A Tale of Two Fourties at Etang de Brigueuil

I was speaking to Andy & Tracey at Etang de Brigueuil the other day. They were telling me how the lake is still producing some fine captures despite freezing rain and snow showers.

Tracey explained that one day, just as they were wondering if the weather will ever get any better, the doorbell rings frantically and a fisherman is standing in the doorway shouting “There's a big fish on the bank, cut tail has come out!” They arrived just as photos were being taken; with the fish weighing in at 46lb 8oz. This was its first visit to the bank this year, taken from Swim 1 on a Fish Insect boilie.

Could things get any better they asked? Er, yes,it would appear so! Half way through the Liverpool v Arsenal match the other night, another madman was standing in the doorway, shouting “I’ve had a  41lb common” So everyone raced round to swim 5 to see "John" the common, also in very good health, posing for his picture for the gallery. This gave two 40's in 24 hours, the second time this year that has happened, the other being at Easter, with both fish then coming out on Swim 1; a 41lb and a 44lb, both on fruit boilies (all photos on the website).

So the gauntlet has been thrown down, the first 50lb’er is still to come out, with a week's free fishing for the whoever lands it!

Other news is that Dan has been welcomed to the lake for 2008 - Dan is one of Ireland's finest carp anglers and he is working with the team as resident bailiff this season, who will be able to give you all the help and support you need should you decide to book a trip at this magnificent water.
