Like fish all over the country this week, the fish at Llyn Y Gors have become bemused as to what the weather has been doing. One day the fish were up on the surface heightening stalking expectations and the following day hail stones lashed down upon the lake. Yet despite this vastly temperamental weather plenty of fish have been caught around all of the different lakes.A new lake record has been established on The Karpium by Paul Gwinneth as he captured a lovely 21lb 5oz specimen along with a couple of other smaller Carp. Stockings of Carp up to 28lb 4oz have been made, yet this is the biggest specimen to be banked this year by Paul and was caught using a Mainline Fusion Pop up over a bed of Llyn Y Gors L1s and Maggots. During his 48 hour session Paul also caught a 10lb 9oz Mirror Carp as well as a gorgeous looking smaller Fully Scaled Mirror Carp. ![]() 'Paul Gwinneth captured a lovely 21lb 5oz specimen' Steve Groves also fully enjoyed the activity of fish around the Specimen Lakes as he landed the biggest Pike of the year to date with a 15lb 2oz Pike from The Old Carp Lake with the 20lb+ Pike still evading capture. Steve caught the huge fish using deadbait Lamprey and was absolutey delighted with such a gorgeous Pike. Plenty of Carp have also been captured from The Old Carp Lake with James Bradshaw catching 3 Carp to 12lb in 5 hours whilst Nick Slater as ever is still catching plenty of fish with the biggest weighing in at 14lb. And to round off a great week of Specimen fishing on the 3 different Specimen Lakes, Joe Newby caught a fantastic 21lb Mirror Carp on Thompson's Pool using a semi fixed rig fishing from the Double Bay. The Match and Pleasure Lakes have also been fishing very well with plenty of fish being caught even in the snow! Mark Hill and Andy Thompson have done particularly well on The Pleasure Lake landing a variety of Tench, Golden Tench, Barbel, Carp, Rudd and Roach using Hookable Soft Pellets even during hail showers upon the lake! |
