Even with the bitterly cold weather producing both showers of snow and thick ice, Llyn Y Gors fishing has been on top form. The carp anglers have been pleasantly surprised about how excellent the fishing has been in such cold temperatures with 10 fish being caught from the old carp lake in one day! Barrie Thomas has had a phenomenal week capturing 9 fish from the old carp lake with the biggest fish being a 18lb 4oz ghost carp (a personal best for ghost carp), a 14lb ghost carp and a 16lb common, all lured from 'The Point'. Danny Wilkinson also produced a lovely 14lb Common from 'The Cliffs' enticed with homemade Amber Attract boilies. Regular anglers’ Gary Risley and Matt Burns were not to be disappointed either catching 5 fish between them with the best being two 10lb commons. Marc Ward continued to produce high quality form on the old carp lake catching another 3 fish this week including a 13lb Ghost Carp, as well as the sensational catch of an 8lb Mirror from underneath the layer of 2 inch ice using his choice of Nash Bling boilies during the early hours. During the same morning of the coldest temperature so far Darren Williams also managed to pull out a 7lb Mirror from underneath the ice whilst many anglers encountered problems with their lines being frozen within the lake. This was one of the 4 fish he managed to land with the biggest being a 9lb Common using 2x 12mm Christmas Cracker boilies produced by Elite Baits. Local chef Brian Wilkinson and his son also paid a visit to the fishery landing 3 fish between them including a 13lb Common as the old carp lake pulled out all of the stops to conclude a fine week of fishing.
