A host of 20's were banked during the bank holiday week on Thompson's Pool. Fishery assistant Nick Slater banked three during a 72 hour session. The biggest of the session was "SPOT", the mirror was weighed at 29 lb 10 oz. Nick who fished "The Nightmare" swim on Richworth KG1 boilies then went on to catch two more mirrors weighing 24 lb 3 oz and 20 lb. It was an excellent session for Nick, who has only turned his attention to specimen fishing over the last 6 months!Local angler Wes Williams netted two mirrors during his 24 hour session in the "Barbecue" swim. First on the bank was 22 lb which had set a new personal best for the 16 year old from Llangefni, Anglesey. The record did not last long as soon enough the second fish was caught, a common tipping the scales at 24lb 3oz. ![]() Nick Slater with one of three Thompson's Pool twenties Daniel Brejwo enjoyed a first weekend carp fishing and will probably never forget it as he caught a personal best 22 lb 2 oz mirror. Daniel who would normally fish our match and pleasure lakes, opted to fish Thompson's Pool after fishing a night on the Old Carp Lake, which produced a 14 lb 8 oz common. Daniel fished "The Rock" swim fishing Solar Club Mix boilies. Ian "Slim" Lockhart fished "The Well" catching himself a fully scaled 17 lb 10 oz mirror. Ian had originally opted for "The Rock" swim but had a change of heart last minute. It proved a wise decision as he caught the cracking looking mirror on Nash Monster Pursuit boilies. Mark Drennan started his season with a bang during an action packed 72 hour session. Mark who had not had the best of winters caught his first catfish which was just under 15 lb. He then caught six more cats in 12 hours with fish of 22 lb, 20 lb 8 oz, 20 lb 6 oz, 17 lb 8 oz, 15 lb 12 oz. Mark who had originally set out for carp did manage a couple of doubles on Dynamite Fresh Fish boilies. All six cats were caught on double 21 mm halibut pellets. Gareth "Ginge" Bannister caught a whopping twenty carp and two catfish during a week long session on the Old Carp Lake. Gareth fished "The Point" swim, both catfish of 14 lb and 21 lb fell for hair rigged halibut pellets. The twenty carp, the biggest a 17 lb 8 oz ghostie, were caught on a variety of baits including Odessy XXX, Skinz Hookbaits, Artificial pop-up corn and Nash Whisky boilies. It was Gareth's first session on the Old Carp Lake and I dont think he will have many better. Daniel Congrave added to his ever growing tally of captures with four carp during a 24 hour session. Daniel who spends many of weekends on our banks landed a 16 lb 8 oz ghostie, two simmo mirrors of 10lb and 12 lb all three on Smartbait GLM boilies. The last fish of the session (which was caught whilst packing up!) a 14 lb catfish which took fancy to his Green Lipped Mussel boilies. More at: http://www.llynygors.co.uk |
