Newton-le-Willows fishery report 26/04/07
Apr 27,2007 00:00 by Eddie-Marcroft
That Man Garry Finney was at it again, this time on the yew Tree Reservoir, where he netted a 14lbs Mirror Carp on light tackle and sweetcorn just off the lily beds in the left corner and lost a bigger fish.

The Yew Tree is providing some good sport with carp and silver fish and is worth a look if your wanting to catch a good session this weekend.

The Vulcan Reservoir is fishing very well with lots of silver fish to pole and maggot with tench and small F1 carp mixed with mirror and common carp sweetcorn, maggot, caster and pinky are all taking fish.

Haydock Pk Farm, both waters on this site are fishing very well the lagoon is producing some huge catches of rudd and roach on the drop with pole and caster or maggot. Cow Hay Dam is much the same with very good catches of silver fish and perch along with some nice carp and bream.

The upper and lower pounds of the Sankey Canal are fishing very well with some pleasure catches of tench, bream, carp and silver fish going well over 50lbs, both these sections are available on day tickets £4-00 adult, £1-50 Junior.

What comes to mind at this time is that all the hard work in the associations fishery management policies are now starting to pay off, with all our waters fishing very well, and offering some excellent sport for everyone, as you can see from the report. I have been about this week on some of our fisheries and they are tip top, if you go out why not keep us posted on the forum board on the website if you have any decent catches.

Cheers,
Eddie Marcroft.
Secretary/ Vice President.
