Pendle View Fishing Report 22nd April
Apr 24,2007 00:00 by Lin-Davies

Hello everyone here is the fishing report for last week.

Main Lake (pleasure)
The main lake has been fishing in top form with plenty of skimmers, bream, roach and crucian carp showing. The fish have moved into shallow water and the best tactics for the bream and skimmers is feeder fishing with ringers dark ground bait or a fish meal ground bait. Ryan our resident trainee Fisheries Manager went fishing in the week and used 3/4 ringers bag up mix with a bottle of Van Den Eynde liquid worm and caster pinkies and a scatter of maggots with plenty of chopped worm in the feeder. Worm and red maggot where use on the hook. Ryan found that putting caster in your ground bait with micro pellets kept the fish interested. Some great bags have been recorded this week ranging from 40 - 100lbs.

Doughnut Lake (pleasure)
Another lake that is fishing on top form. Paste seems to be the most successful. Van Den Eynde micro pellet or ringers dark paste with pellet over the top and fishing close to the margin on pole seems to be doing the trick. Fishing two swims and two rigs is working well (SEE LAST WEEKS REPORT ON HOW TO DO THIS). Again some great bags recorded ranging from 30lb to the 88lb. The angler who caught the 88lb bag (called Phil Rimmer) fished the long pole on maggot and caster.

Main Lake (carp)
Carp fishing has been terrific with lots of carp brought to the bank. Paul Henderson from Middlesborough had a cracking 48 hour session. His biggest catch was a common of 34lb. Paul also caught a 17lb mirror, 22lb mirror and 8lb linear and a 8lb ghostie. These fish were all caught on a home made boilie from peg 56/57. Craig Geald fished 48/49 and caught a 27lb common, 18lb, mirror, 24lb mirror, 18lb mirror, and 20lb common. These were all caught on a dairy crunch boilie. Steve Finnegan caught a nice 17lb grass carp on work. Kyle our resident bailiff caught and nice 10lb and 13lb common. Peg 61/62 has seen two commons, one at 14lb and the other at 10lb. Peg 71/71 has seen a 17lb mirror, 14lb mirror, and two low commons. On Friday afternoon a nice 28lb common was landed on peg 48/49. The angler had only been fishing for 10 minutes. All in all fish are coming out all over to an assortment of boilies. Photies of the large fish will be published on our web site in the next day or so. www.pendleview.co.uk

Fly Lake
Fishing has been a little up and down on the fly lake. Damsils, buzzers and dry flies have been successful on fast retrieves with drys left to blow round on their own.

Here are the averages.
Monday 1.8
Tuesday 3.8
Wednesday 1.0
Thursday 2.3
Friday 2.1
Saturday 3.1
Sunday 2.2

GENERAL
A big thank you to all those carp anglers who replied to my question as to what bait we should be stocking. This has been very helpful indeed. An overwhelming percentage of anglers have said they would prefer Mainline and Nash. Freezer baits have come out very high. There were also one or two very interesting comments made by respondents which again are very worthy of consideration. We are currently looking at ways in which we can extend of range of bait and tackle and details will be announced as soon as we can.

Have a good week everyone. I only get to the fisheries on Mondays and perhaps a flying visit now and again. Its great to see anglers that I have not seen for a while. One of the buzzes I get when I visit is hearing the nice things that are reported back about staff. I had a lovely email from a young lady who is blind the other day. The young lady in question could not thank our staff enough for helping her during her first session at Pendle View. Customer care is still very high on our list of aims. I know we do not always get it right every time, and I want to assure you that I am here to listen if you think there is anything we can do to make your visit a better one.

best wishes
