Following last weeks introduction of a thousand quality roach they are soon showing with reports coming in of good catches of forty plus fish to over the pound coming on to maggot off or on the bottom, some nice double figure carp also showing, along with some quality skimmers and bream to bigger baits.

The Vulcan Reservoir - this very sheltered fishery offers good sport with roach, skimmers, perch, gudgeon, Ide’s, the odd big golden orfe or small f1 carp to 2lbs plus, maggot, casters, pinkie’s, punched bread are all producing fish.

The Sankey Canal, Upper pound is fishing well for silver fish with good ide’s to over two pounds, with roach, rudd and skimmers, also good bream and big carp with pike going well into double figures.

The lower pound is producing some nice catches of small carp to 9lbs each along with skimmers, roach, chub, ide’s, perch and pike.Both these sections are on day ticket from our bailiffs on the bank.

Haydock Park Farm, The Lagoon is still producing some very good catches of roach to 2lbs each, along with rudd, skimmers and koi carp.

Cow Hay Dam is producing some very good mixed catches of roach, skimmers, bream, hybrids, perch, rudd and carp.
Change of Venue, The AGM will now be held at our Headquarters Newton-le-Willows Cabaret and Social Club, Patterson St Off (Cross Lane) on Thursday Jan 25th, at 8pm.



The Sunday Open Match, 10th,December.
Sunday morning saw sixteen winter hardy anglers turn out on a cold, wet and windy morning to fish this match on the Sankey canal lower pound. Graham Belton( Warrington) was the eventual winner, on peg 109, with small carp and silver fish on pole and caster for 5lbs-4ozs-0drms.Second place went to Bob Clough (Warrington) on peg 105, fishing punch and caster to long pole he had 4-4-0 of roach and skimmers. Third placed was Garry Manion (Warrington) on peg 106, with roach and skimmers on punch and caster on pole for 3-5-7. Fourth place was match organiser, Mark Brown on peg 108, with roach and skimmers to pole and caster for 2-13-12.

Disabled & Over Sixties weekly match, Thur, 14th December.The match was fished on peg 33 to 49 of the upper pound section of the Sankey canal. The winner and match organiser was Dennis Greenalgh on peg 45, he had Ide’s, skimmers and roach on pole for 6-1-0. Second place was Dougie Thom on peg 49 with ides and roach for 4-7-0.
Third and another week with a dead heat for this position, was Keith Tyrebuck on peg 35 and Eddie Cook on peg 33 with catches of silver fish on pole for 3-10-0
