Large north west canal carp are few and far between, and those over thirty pound are rarer still, but after years of targeting just such a specimen, it all came right for North West Carp regular Daz Bate, aka ‘Blankmaster’ after he landed a 30lb 10oz mirror on a recent canal session.Daz explained that he’d been targeting the fish for several years after seeing it fall twice to a friend in recent years, and after catching several twenty pound fish from the same stretch, Daz eventually struck it lucky on a short afternoon session. ![]() Daz Bate with a stunning 30lb 10oz canal carp After deciding to target a snaggy section of the canal, Daz presented a PVA bag of mixed pellets and a Frank Warwick Pineapple Fluro bait tight to the far bank at around twenty-five yards in approximately eighteen inches of water. On receiving a rapid dropback shortly afterwards, Daz tightened up only for the rod to bend straight into battle curve. After a hearty battle the fish was landed to give Daz the prize he had worked so hard for. A fantastic achievement - a big well done from all at North West Carp! |
