Jun 06,2006 00:00 by Lin-Davies
Hello everyone,

Hope you are all enjoying this lovely spell of weather.  It sure makes us all feel better.  Here is the fishing report for the week.

Main Lake (Carp)

About 20 carp catches reported this week with weights from about 5lb to 35lb 2oz. First the 35lb 2oz catch caught by Gary Quixall.  Gary caught the 35lb 20z common at 11pm on Wednesday night.  Gary was using a single maple 8 boilie from peg 48/49.   Well done Gary I know this is a personal best. The catch was verified by our Fisheries Superintendent Ryan.  I have enclosed a photograph with this email. Gary we do hope you return soon and try your luck again.  Our catch returns that you help put together also show the following carp as being caught -  15lb mirror, 11lb common 13lb common, 14lb 2oz common, 18lb common, 12lb grass, 20lb 8oz common, 15lb common, 8lb common, 23lb 40z common and many more averaging 5lb to 10lb.  Our carp are in the process of spawning at the moment and there is a lot of activity all around the lake at present.

Main Lake (Pleasure)

Some great returns recorded in the catch reports that you now help us put together.   Looking throught he returns there were lots of anglers with 30 - 40lb bags of fish.  These were mostly made up of roach, bream and perch.   Gudgeon has also been showing. The biggest bag recorded this week goes to Paul Philips of Preston who fished on Wednesday from peg 31 using feeder with maggot as his bait.  Harry Shard also had a great day on Friday with a nice 46lb bag  made up of roach and bream.  Harry used feeder with maggots.   Approximately 180 pleasure anglers fished with us during the last week and only two said they blanked.  The main lake is fishing really well at the moment and it does appear that maggot, worm and caster are bringing the best results.

Fly Lake (Trout)

Jim Holloy from Bury had a great day on Saturday when he enjoyed 2 hrs catch and release.  He returned 20 fish and used dry flies.  John McArdle from Preston also had a great session on Thursday and returned 10 fish to the water on a three hour ticket.  John was using buzzers.  Sam Steer of Accrington returned 14 fish to the water on Tuesday during a three hour session.  John was using bloodworm.  The most successful flies this week have been daddy long legs, cdc buzzers, flying black ants and white fritz.  The averages are as follows:

Monday 5.4
Tuesday 7.4
Wednesday 3.1
Thursday 3.6
Friday 4.1
Saturday 4.7
Sunday 4.5

GENERAL

We are doing some general tidy up jobs around site this week.  This involves us painting some of the buildings, gates etc around the site.  You may see some new faces over the next few weeks.  We have two young lads starting with us on work experience.  Both lads are keen fishermen and wanted the opportunity of doing their work experience at Pendle View. Well the forecasters are saying that this weather may with us for a another week so I hope to see some of you on the banks this week.  Lastly we have had a couple of our anglers get really badly sunburnt whilst fishing.  Just to remind everyone that the sun can be really hot.  It is so easy to forget to apply sun cream before or during a fishing session.   If you do forget your suncream just pop into the office as we are now selling it in our shop. We also stock after sun as well.  Well folks thats all for now.  Thanks for all your emails - keep them rolling in.

Best wishes
