Newton-le-Willows Anglers Association was inaugurated in 1974, at this time we only had the Sankey canal to fish on, since then we have aquired a more varied portfolio of fishing venues in and around Newton for our members, you will see this when you go further into the website.
We have the Yewtree Reservoir,The Vulcan Reservoir, Haydock park Farm, Cow Hey Dam and the Lagoon, Ena Mill Pool Atherton, Lyme pool Wood Pool, Lyme & Wood Country Pk, Newton le Willows, River Dane Ravenscroft Middlewich, White door Dam two pools Oak & Beech. Approx 1mile of the Sankey Brook down stream of Penkford bridge for approx 1 ½ miles., the Sankey Canal, Upper Pound, the Sankey Canal Lower Pound, and Penkford Bridge. The Upper and Lower pounds are available on day tickets.
Permits are now on sale at fishing shop outlets in Newton, Ashton, St helens, Leigh and Warrington. Our membership is open to all and we strive to offer the oppertunity to all people to take part in the sport of coarse fishing, regardless of nationallity or creed, abillity or disabillity (however the committee will refuse membership to those who they deem as undesirable.)
Association aims for now and in the future;
- To provide the best possible standards of angling for our members, by proper fishery management policy, and adiquate levels of stocking throughout our water coarses.
- To promote fair and proper competetive match angling, from within the association at both local and national level, for any and all our catagories of members.
- To encourage in particular junior angling, with coaching provided in house and in local schools to ensure correct and proper practice within our sport, we feel that the junior of today is the future officers and committees of tomorrow.
We want to bring the sport to the disabled people in our area, and help them to enjoy our sport. (At the moment we offer help and advice to our local Out Reach Group, this is a local body for the mentally handicapped, they feel that angling is very theraputic for their members.)
