Default thunder and lightning

im after some views on the safest way to fish and survive during thunder/lightning storms...

we are all out in these, many times a season, last year i was out with my daughter in what could only be described as the most horrendous storm ive ever witnessed.....it was excellent she didnt share my views of this !

we sat on my bed under the cover of the trusty dillo, watching the rain bounce of the lake.......and run in rivers all around us....with lightning forking all over the lake !

did we do the right thing ? i mean we are advised not to stand under trees in lightning storms, fat chance on the bankside.....but should we sit with our feet on the ground ? or should you lay on your bedchair ? should you even sit on the bedchair, what with it being metal framed ??

im just unsure as to what we should do for our own safety ?? im not bothered about my own safety so much, but more for my daughter when shes with me..it was her who started asking the questions about 'are we safe sitting here' etc

sit back relax and watch the sky light up lol could be a bit dangerous if you get a ripper and you are then holding a lighting stick(rod) lol other than that if it goin to strick your bivvy its unlucky

Its going to hit the metal arms of your biv before you as long as your sitting down. Wouldnt feel massively confident playing a fish in it.

The worst thing you could do is stand up an try to make it out of the woods.
The danger you would be in in the woods would be from the lightening hitting a tree and the tree falling on your bivi.

Cannot belive you even said that!

You would have to be absoloutly mental to even considder playing a fish in a lightening storm. Standing there waving 12/13 foot of one of the best conductors of electricity known to man in the air, zap and you are history.

I think the chances of being hit while in the bivvy are slim, I'd be
happy to sit it out, I'd not be to keen on hitting a run though, I'd probleys opt for quickly getting the rods in then sit it out not that I get many runs, even in perect conditions lol
