Default high air pressure.

All this high air pressure is getting on my nervs according to the met check its high for the next two weeks. Whats that all about. I thought summer was over .
Its certainly making it a bit of a pain to plan the next session when the pressures are high and staying high. I won't be doing any fishing at this rate!!

How accurate do people actualy think the met is on there 7-14 day outlooks?
How do they know what the pressure's will be in two weeeks time?

Dan.

It does sort of fit in with the catch results tho doesn't it. It seems that alot of fish went on the munch big time last tue/wed then shut up shop?
Hmm I wonder if you can get a back dated forecast? Pressures, wind, temp.

Know what you mean re. the high pressures mate - generally they are rubbish, especially on the NW 'meres'.

I too have been keeping a close eye on the forecast & it does seem the trend over the next 7-10 days will be high pressure, sunny with an East / North East wind.

Usually you can bank on the weather breaking last week in Sept. & the low pressures, wind & rain (plus ideally a new moon) have produced some great results for me & my mates at this time of year.

I got a feeling October is going to be a good'un though - & one thing you can be sure of is that the next big 'low' that follows this current high pressure spell will produce some right lumps (!)

I had a great day chubbing yesterday on the river. The river was low and clear, high pressure has dominated for days and there was barely a cloud in the sky. To be honest - my confidence was rock bottom and given the conditions I felt a blank was inevitable. I only went because I had a friend visiting and we'd planned to go chubbing that day.

End result? 4 decent fish for me (including a PB) and the biggest fish I know of from that stretch for my friend.

Just goes to show the fish sometimes throw the rule book out of the window when it comes to the weather .

Mike.
