If you thought carp anglers were a stone to get blood from, try gleaning some info from a barbel angler for a 'hot stretch that'll throw a double up...'

They really are tight lipped! And who can blame them with all these converts sick of the rat race on lakes turning their quest to catch one of them barbel things from a river!

Certainly not converting and dont really fish rat raced lakes, just with now getting the new license fancy a few weeks re-living what fishing was like when being a youngster. Not after a double, would just be happy getting a bend in the rod.
Plus thats one of the reasons for asking on a mostly carp fishing forum. Hoping converted match fisherman turned carp fisherman are now a little more open on where they USED to fish for these species..

I can certainly see the appeal of a nice quiet stretch of river, angler versus fish as opposed to angler versus angler which seems to frequent so often, keep threatening to have a dabble at river fishing myself given the time, alas time is something I never seem to have!
Hope you find your river nirvarna, keep it to yourself if you do!
