don't quote me on it but we just heard that a 40 has come out of Tabley Moat. Has anybody else heard about this.

Have you noticed that Lymm are quoting this in the press with their
membership details . . . good way of boosting the membership me thinks.

Just had a look on the Lymm website in the forum and catch reports in the members section, no whispers of a biggie from Tabley Moat.

In their lists of waters, when you look at Tabley Moat description it is as follows:

"The water is stocked with carp, pike, bream, tench, roach, perch and rudd. Large carp, pike, bream and tench are quite likely here, with the carp believed to go up to 40lb. Carp over 20lb are quite numerous."

Is this where the information came from?

Talking to a lad on Boundary lake today, reckons that the EA electro fished Tabley Moat and up popped a 42lb 10oz mirror. Could this be the same rumour going round?

However, ive heard that many rumours from the 'secret squirrels' of the northwest today, i dont know what to believe. According to one wise old man, Boundary contains 10 carp over 30 up to 39, with a total stock of around 60. Then, later another bloke comes along saying there's one just over 30 in there with a total stock of 20 -30

What a kerfuffle...

could well be true there is much of that water you can't fish and the old warriors can just be sat there growing fat off all the naturals and sticking the v's up at our newfandangled baits

Another twist in the tale. I heard the other day that the 30 from Boundary was removed from there by some unscrupulous types and deposited in Booths. Will people ever learn?

Default Tably Moat

Hello lads, nice to meet you all. I was at Tably Moat about three weeks ago pike fishing (I had none my mate had one on a bass plug). Anyway it was a very cold sunday and only two of us we're fishing. We'd heard some talk of a 40lb carp (yes a common) about 18 months ago. I've now had more people tell me that's it's not true than I can count. It's funny init, loads of lads are looking so hard for info about big fish that they can't have any idea if they're chasing gosts or not. Reading this forum I have come to what I think is a very sound conclusion. The best way to catch a 40 is to get out on the banks and find one for yourself. That's how you'll have the most fun and the most reward if your lucky enough to get one. If you want to know where to catch a 40 my advise would be - Go to France - loads of em over there.

Anyway, while I was at tably about four or five groups of lads had a walk around the banks, not brave enough to try in Feb but you can bet your life the place will be rammed in the next few weeks once it warms up a bit.

I'm currently fishing a lake in a public park in merseyside, it's a right ****hole, kids are nightmare in the summer, but I've seen some of the carp in this gin clear lake and three are looking very near to 30lb and one is considerably bigger, probably not a 40 but it will be. There are a few serious carpers on the water but it is little known and those fishing it have grown up fishing it and looking after it. I found it in the A-Z and went for a look. As has been said already on this forum not all catches are made public. This lake is about 50 years old but the carp were stocked in 1990 at 6lb. With lots of natural food and little fishing one of these will got 40 by 2010 if not more than one. Some of the lakes talked about on here are 200 years old, Tably is 300 yrs old, how anyone can claim to know whats in them if laughable. The short message is get out there and find em.

I decided I would give it one post, having come the above conclusion while reading this forum I've decided that forums arn't for me. I'm for nighter.

Tight lines

Col

Which one of these has the "originals" stolen from a certain free lake near Southport?

I was PAAS member, not anymore though. .
I saw a huge fish head and tail there a few years back, could easily have been high 30,
