I fished it quite a few times last year, there are some mid 20's in main pool, think record is somewhere around 26/27lb. There is also a "Specimen" pool. which is small, but im told by the owner a couple of 30lb+ fish are in there along with the 20's.
Corn (Artificial or natural). Halibut pellets and dog mixers have never failed me on there. As they dont allow boilies
Was also a catfish in there thats reached 11lb, the owner was offering us £100 if we caught it..Wonder if anyones had it yet?
Anyone else fished/fish here?

I don't think that rules on Gorsty need to be strictly adhered to...if you know what I mean

Ahhhh the memories…
Fished there years and years ago – a proper runs water.
Think my best tally was 132 carp in a 36hr session! The main used to hold a good head of decent doubles and had two or three over 20lb – best was a 26lb mirror in my time. At one point they dug what they called a ‘specimen’ pool at the bottom end and charged more to fish it which was day fishing only. We used to get on well with the guy that ran it, seem to remember he was Greek or Cypriot or similar, and he used to let us night fish the specimen pool – had shed loads of doubles averaging between 14-17lb, and I managed a rough looking scraper 20 one winter evening – Mart had a 17lb’er at the same time – got a brace shot somewhere.
Must admit I preferred fishing the main lake as it was much nicer, and it was more a case of trying to keep them off your hook! At the time we were experimenting with our own mixes and we hit on a 50/50 blend of the solar top banana and tang base mixes with shed loads of cranberry oil palatant – used to send them mental.
I remember they pegged a match right up to where we were fishing once and pegged around us! They were all struggling for the carp and I had about 72 fish that day – had all the lads in the match trying to buy the carp off me to put in their nets – all in good humour of course.

PS – Rick, doubt very much there are 30’s in the specimen pool. He was telling us this back then. Mainly doubles and the odd scraper 20 – all the fish that went in there were transferred from the main lake, not stocked big fish like he was telling everyone at the time.

As for the 30's your probably correct m8, im just going off what he said, although i have personally seen a 23.9lb come out last summer, as the **** who was fishng it had no mat/net/ or common sense and i had to land it for him..

Always the way. Idiots.
Was that out of the specimen pool or the main?

That was the specimen puddle ,
Biggest out of the main pool i have seen personally is 25.5lb..
I like to fish the top end near the specimen puddle, and also the channel between the 2 main reed beds. Any other pegs you could recomend mate?

Its more expensive to fish on the specimin lake and i personally don't think its worth it. They don't take out the fry so you'll find yourself hitting loads of 5/6 lbrs in the speci lake .
The place is also MINGIN!!!
litter, poo, half eaten burgers......... Not a nice place.
It is good however for taking the little uns or a novice who just want the bite alarms to go into melt down but are not worried about size or quality of the fish.

Well ive never seen ****, or half eatern burgers m8, but if you did then i wouldn't go back either, and i understand your comments.
Personally fished it maybe a dozen times and enjoyed it, caught loads of nice doubles and learnt a lot about fishing weedy/silty water.

Me and my hubby used to go there yrs ago,its a fun days fishing but the kippers mouths are poor,It was really littered back then and the owner used to walk round spreading rat poison everywhere,a friendly chap tho,he let me fish the specimen pool at no extra charge a few times I had fish upto 15lb out of both pools and doubt if there are any thirty's in.The most productive spot for me on the small pool was tight infront of the group of bramble bushes at the bottom of the pool.tuttis or pinapple/birdfood mix always went down well.
A few ****'s used to get on back then tho,one guy walked past me and said you're not gonna cry when I av em all out are ya? I didn't give him the satisfaction of a reply.result was he blanked and I had a shed full,he got more and more wound up as the day went on,I took great pleasure in watchin him lose it
