Lawton Hall, dad used to take us there when we were kids, learnt my watercraft there too. That place for me holds alot of memories, and big fish too. Thats my all time favourite. Thornycroft bottom is another one of mine.

If i had to fish in one place for the rest of my life it would be on the Capesthorne estate Main & top pools ,Redesmere , Fanshawe and the stock pond to choose from .If i had to choose 1 out of those 5 it would be Capesthorne main lake as its where i caught my 1st coarse fish (a tench) and ive loved tench ever since each year i set out with the intension of getting a big tench but always seam to catch carp as i now tackle up to really fish for both of species i aint bothered if its a tench , carp even a bream or gudgeon so its Capes main for me as my favourite water

Its the Serpentine for me. i've caught the big'un 5 times but i keep finding myself drawn to the place. It doesn't see much pressure and the carp are old warriors. Couple that with fantastic surroundings, its just a lovely place that i think i'll always keep going back too.

for me its Wedgwood AS middle pool. not many of you will of heard of it but you have probably heard of wedgwood pottery. The lake was dug about 250 years ago i think it was commissioned by Josiah Wedgwood himself, as his home wedgwood manor overlooks it. its a nice typical estate lake dam wall, shallow end boat house you know the sort. the carp were stocked in about 1958...i heard talk that they were leney strain fish, and they are definitely galicians with a few rogues thrown in probably illegal/unauthorised stockings. i had my first 20 from here and had few more out including some cracking fish. A lot of the originals have died i think but a few are left but it has been stocked a few times in the last 10yrs so there are plenty of fish for the future. I have just got a mate in this year and so will return to fish there a few times this year and hopefully he will catch one of the remaining originals at 20+, theres still a few left

Wedgwood
Used to have a very good head of 20's 10yrs ago. . .
. . . some even bigger. . . old Tony (sorry mate can't
remember your surname) had the big girl at 39lbs
(spawn bound) around this time.
T'was a new lake record and a very big fish for the area
at the time (still is). I think she died the same season if
my memory serves me well.
Used to feed 'em crust off the bridge 20years ago, were
a lot around upper doubles/scraper 20's at that time!!

Yes it is the pool by the factory Dan. Yeh there used to be a good head of 20's although I suspect many have now died as they are old fish and few turn up dead every year Although I may be wrong and there may still be a good few left at least 3 20's came out last year and I very much doubt these are new one unless they have piled the weight as they haven't been in there long enough but you never know.I was catching some nice little commons and mirrors around 5-7lb about 5yrs ago maybe some of these are fast growers The chap who had the big spawn bound fish is named Tony Lowndes(if you read this Tony hope you don't mind me saying this ) and yes I think the fish died., this was a couple of years before i joined the club. I will never give my ticket up for the place as it holds many good memories for me and I have got great hope that it will be another top water again in the future.

Its not a noted big carp water, although the fish in there are beauties. But for looks and general 'fishiness' my vote goes to Rookery pool at Whitegate. It has everything for me, lilies, reeds, an island, dam wall, tree stumps, shallows, open water ................... unfortunately now a damn golf course along one side
