i'll go with you on this one mate, heard the rumours before and watched the fish off the point a year or so ago spawing from that tree there and i would say most of the fish were present, goldie the lot and there were some decent mirrors there, but goldie was the chunkiest. One thing that did shock me was the ammount of decent fish that were there that day , you had to be there..
i think it would be great if that Ford Green Common was in there mate...

ive watched approx 50 fish spawning off 'the front' on the last weekend in may 2 years ago.
Some absolute stonkers. It was amazing to get that close on the beach to them and they didnt give a damn. 3ft from me was the closest they came. Nearly every fish was at least low 20+ didnt see goldie tho or the other 'little goldie' .
My only run in the month on there produced this

ye to tell you the Truth i have watch them getting ready to spawn myself in the beach from the tree and there was alot of fish there but manly mirrors there was a few commons but i would say the biggest 2 were around 25-26 ,1 was very long probably the parrot and the other 1 was long but alot deeper and Goldy dwarfed them both

nice fish that is mate..that bream, i have seen a two tone one simlar to that before. If i remember right it was about 10-11lb...proper stonker.
Any moving of to the matter's of the sacking, it did happen and apparantly they found a weigh sling(solar, if i remember right). Somebody had caught the fish in the night and used there weigh sling and attempted to sack the fish and it was found, washed in-weeks later.
Its quite sad really when that happens and the club were looking at banning sacks full stop, as they were concerned about the fish being stolen on there-before that incident..shame really.
Apart from Goldie..there used to be around 5 ghosties in there, aint sure what's happened to them thou..i think in 2000, could be wrong about the year thou. Me and my bro were stalking them on the top..and they were there then, aint seen um again.
Something funny aswell, there used to be a fish -Kio( carrot colour) in there aswell..i think the old skool anglers on there had that, around 12lb...would be interesting if that turned up..

Saw a common last year from the big tree over the rocks in the beach. It was with big and little Goldie. I said it didn't look as big as Goldie but if anyone remember nazbo ( ginger nath ) then he thought it was similar size. this was the morning after it'd been caught the previous day or night at 31lb +, can't remember now. So who knows. Theres a few big mirrors made an appearance last year wasn't there?

i have never seen anything as big as glodie yet but i think a number of fish will grow to be bigger if they continue to bang it on like they are i thought maybe half lin would do it but i think hooky had it down in weight!
p.s i wonder if you will be able to get a peg this year?

Hi every one, just logged on after reading through a few things. just thought I'd share a few little snippets with you guys.
1st. The ford green hall common from westport, i have video footage of this fish at 25lb 12oz in 1999. As far as I'm aware its not been caught since. for those that don't know i caught my first wesa carp back in 1986! Before some of the recent 'no it alls' were even fishing. Caught over 100 different fish from there and have a photo graphic record of 95% of all of the fish.
Over the last 5 years or so Ive only seen 2 or 3 fish caught that i did not recognize. the old school anglers amongst us put together a list of fish in there 10 years ago, would be interesting if someone would do the same now.
Fish stocks. At least 150 fish with 70-80 twenties and 2or 3 nudging 30lb. Goldie still the biggest caught so far
but what of the brick red mirror(not chestnut) that i had in 1998 at 25lb 8oz(see big carp articles)
2nd Goldendale.. 20 fish max. 99.9% confident that theres no big mirror in there from burley or anywhere else for that matter. When i caught the common a guy who witnessed me returning the fish was convinced it was the big mirror he'd seen the day before!Lots of people making that mistake. for any one going down there please take a bin bag with you and help clear away the rubbish. The common was put in there at 17lb from Tunstal park anyone saying different is talking rubbish. for more info check out crafty carper article i did Nov/Dec 04
3rd Hanley forest park. defo no 29s or 32lb ers the lads who have caught these fish need a lesson in weighing fish properly. Seen the pictures and no of the lads. do yourselves a favor boys and get a set of Reuben's!

i thort that about fozzer dont look like the type of lake that could hold a fish of that size, it is highly polluted, i remeber the time when most of the silver fish died a few years back due to lack of oxygen, the deepest iv found is about 5 1/2 foot, there is definatley a few low 20s in there for sure i have seen them, the blokes that have caught that 29 say it has a abnormal shaped belly, iv herd 1 person say theyve caught in on a beachcaster aswell?? which would be impossible due to the stupid amounts of ducks. not many fish the place, there has been a few recently not sure if theyre catching tho, quite easy in the summer months. any1 fished it recently??

Yo dude..Westport is on the Middleport Anglers ticket and the tickets are available from Pickerings of Burslem, there arent any day tickets for this water, just season ticket only.
The lake is situated off Brownhills Road, bottom end of Tunstall.

I've heard someones already had there rods
nicked on here, since it opened on 1st April.
So, if your doing the nights be on your guard,
it'll probably be a bit safer when it opens up
to all on 1st May, as there'll be a few more
people fishing.
Stick to the days if your a heavy sleeper or you
might wake up to a nasty surprise!!

i have fished westport for a few years now and i havent come across any major trouble, just a few random incidents. Most of the problems occur when the barrier is left open..Then u get a few randoms wandering around the lake, in the early hours

Hi bet
Spoke to Russ and sorted the matter...
I know that loosing fish of any size isnt a very nice thing, but i heard that it was a fish of around 20lb, but it had blown up that much that it looked like a bigger fish, but like i say.... im a bit clearer on the issue now.... just hope that the lads on there agree...
Cheers Russ
Chris
