Was using the new invisible hook from same makers of the glass weight, it was invisible so i might have dropped it.... i tried bread, dog biscuits, sweetcorn, maize either on the hook or hairrigged and they just nicked the bait, i had my bait runner on and it only went once, didn't have my pod or alarm set up as i thought i didn't need it so just held it, will go down again later this week and do it all proper... the only thing they wouldn't take was boilies....

I fished here last Friday. Nice little venue and the regulars are very friendly. Fished near the snags in the far right corner. I tried using very large hookbaits for the majority of the day in an attempt to avoid the myriad small carp that I could see -- the place is teeming with them! -- but without success. I spotted a couple of decent-sized fish right in the heart of the snags and a large common that frequently revealed itself just out of reach around the mid-section of the bushes.
I resorted to using floating and slow-sinking bread, courtesy of the chap who was fishing on the peg alongside me and quickly caught 3 carp. The first 2 were commons in the 5/6lb range and the 3rd was a beautiful little mirror of, I don't know, probably a couple of pounds. Lovely looking fish though! If it was a woman, I'd probably* have asked for her number. A real looker she was. Ahem... I'll probably fish it again at some point, but it'd be a hard slog getting through all the small ones to finally catch a biggie, so I don't know. My current agenda is to catch a decent catfish from Reddish Vale. The 12lb'er I caught last week, pictured below, has certainly whet my appetite! *Definitely. |
