Think that it's called Rumworth reservoir, used to be a small local club called Rumworth anglers, it goes right up to Chorley Rd at the other end.

Is this the one on the other side of the M6 to the garden centre? Or am I thinking of the water a bit further north?

Think your mistaken Red Jim, the garden centre in question is on the road between Wigan and Bolton.

Not sure whats in apart from bream, there used to be matches on and reports where in local papers. The water behind the garden centre is really shallow, have seen it regularly with little or no water at all. Used to go past on a daily basis, never saw anyone bivvied up on there but doesn't mean theres nothing in there.

Have you ever tried Church Garden, used to be Dave's Aquarium? Was supposedly a 30 put in years ago when it was ran by the aquarium, my mate had an 18 about 10 years ago and the locals reckon there's bigger in. Fished it a few times over the last few years, has been stocked with small carp but have seen some doubles moving about. Best I've had is a koi about 8lb and a common about 10lb.

Yep, sorry, there's a Barton Grange just north of Preston (same company). Drove past on Saturday, and the water I'm thinking of is much further north than that.

Church Garden Fishery isn't too far from Bradshaws. If you head out of Bradshaw's back towards Bolton, the first set of lights you come to turn left. There is a pub/restaurant immediately on your right, turn in the car park there and you see a gate over to the left onto the fishery. Is a long, rectangular shape shallow at the first end and quite deep at the bottom.
My mate had an 18, a guy who fished it when we did had a near 20 and a guy on 3 yrs ago also had an 18, so are some decent fish in there.

Rumworth Reservoir - Bolton was/is owned by Royal Ashton Angling and costs £50 a year; theres a couple of twenties and a good head of doubles and singles; The dam end (which in winter is near enough where all the carp are) is unfishable due to the bank being extremely high and very very deep, this is especially so in the Summer when they empty more than 60% of the water from the reservoir.

My personal opinion is that the club is extremely antiquated and still think they live and fish in the 1970s; they tend not to like carp anglers but if you can get in its worth a season just to p**s them off

I wouldn't bother with brian hey mate, was told that they took most of the decent carp out a couple of years ago (even then there was only low doubles).
I went past Rumworth the other day and there were surveyors on the island bit and surrounding fields, looked like they were measuring the area up, hope its not for more building work

Rumworth is as Getafix said.. on Beaumont Rd and you can see it from Barton grange. Has done a couple of twenties but unfortunately the biggest died some time ago.
The club is run by old timers who are defiantely not too accomodating of carp anglers ! To say the least !
Bad news about the surveyors hope it's not another water lost

Brian Hey has a handful of old carp but the water was stocked a while back with 100's of hand sized ones..

I dont think they ever did get over you with your chest waders lobbing out shedfulls of particles or whatever it was LOL. When I was in the club (which was some years later than when you fished it) they made a big thing about saying that I was not to wade out to bait up.

I nearly bought a set of chest waders specifically for the job but that wouldve just been bloody minded - which is not like me at all
