Default top flash

Considering looking at top flash at some point this year.
Any pointers for good swims, baits, times to fish etc. Not got too much fishing time this year so anything that can increase my chances would be a great help.

Default Neil Wayte

If you can find a copy of Neil Wayte "River Carping" that has a quailty section on the flash outlining loads of tactics to help you catch on the flash. If you can find a copy then thats sure to help. I found a copy in the libary so try there!

Shouldnt be a problem mate, plenty of little ones in there now. Few decent fish up to low 20s i think but from what i have been told there are loads of little fish in there now. Enjoy the walk

Default Sorry

I thought we were talking about bottom flash on the weaver river system not Top Flash the lake! lol always get them to the wrong way round!
but my boss used to fish there with a few high profile anglers when it was say the premier carp water it once was! 39lb common think the biggest was but i think it might have died along with a few other biggies when there was the bad fish kill there!

Put the bait in my son, and they will come ... there are loads of smaller fish in there; it's a water for a few years time ... the fish kill buggered it up but if you are going to have a go, just before dark is your best bet, off the sandy point towards the first or second islands. Bait wise ... anything decent but plenty of it over a few weeks will see you right.

Join the gang and i used to fish them and cant remember which is which.I always refer to the Top flash as ''Tree Tops'' and as you say it was a premier water with 4x 30+ fish in with the biggest being the common at 39.There was a 30 in there called two tone and also single scale which i had the pleasure of at 29-04.I cant remember the name of the other 30 but there were loads of 20s in there.Top rod on there was a guy called Charlie Breeze from cheshire way.I think a lot including all the bigguns died two years back when the farmer allowed something toxic into the lake.I believe and hope there is a new stock coming through. The winsford part of the river is a good bet with at least one 30 around that area of the snags.

its very sad that this water has lost what it once had as by now that common may have been a big 40!
iv never fished the place but heard many stories from my boss some good and some bad.
heard there was some very daft rules on there but hey!
my boss eventually got banned from there for being TOO keen shall we say
i might give the weaver a go in the winter seems like a good bet from what iv read and heard for a few runs!
