Default Surface Fishing...

Is ****e on my lake!

The only place I know for surface fishing only holds carp to about 10lb Still great fun but I'd like to bag myself a biggie off the top this year, so...

Anyone know any decent venues where they have it off the top?

years ago i used to fish gorsty hall with my dad.

In the early hours on a summers morning you could creep along the bank whilst everyone else is asleep and actually pick out the biggest set of lips and catch that one.

That place was mental for surface fishing!!!!

They were that mental in there (and so many of them) that you could even surface fish at night!

Have had many off the top in complete darkness on Goursty simply by chucking out a pecker, waiting for the line to twitch, and then striking!

Many, many, years ago, mind.

roman lakes is supposed to be good for surface fishing too mate...

But if you decide to go on there make sure you take twice as many mixers as you usually would so you can feed the birds off before you start fishing or they just become a real pain.

P.S. a correctly constructed beach caster rig wdoes wonders on there too but again feed the brids out first

capesthorne is a good floater water, its fallen out of favour over the years because people don't have the patience to deal with the birdlife but they'll have it off the top on the main lake

best way to feed off the ducks.

get 2 or 3 of the big bags (5kg i think) then put in a full bag for the ducks and sit back for a smoke/brew or whatever, then when they have all gone and the ducks look as though they're about to leave...... put more in
the trick is to get them feeling like they've just had a right royal crimbo dinner (you know what i mean.... wher it feels like if you even see food you'l barf )

It will take a while but they will go eventually. Also, the more you put in at first the longer they will leave you alone.

TOP TIP, wait till the ducks a good distance away before actually fishing because they have a habit of coming back with their mates if they no there's more food there.
