Been fishin the mount for the last couple of years, the fishin on there can be hard goin at times due to the weed and natural food. There are many rumours on fish size, but the average size caught seems to be low to mid doubles although larger have been spotted to possible mid twentys. I've found that pop-ups do well fished with pva sticks. The only thing that can b annoying is the church bell goin every 15 mins, 1/2 hour and hour through the night lol.

On the Trap ive had fish to 19lb off it (3 different ones actually all commons and mint to) mainly in the shallow end (top left from the car park by the pub), ive heard of fish to 27lb come off it from a reliable source, there very visable in the summer and will take surface baits to (nice fun).

Good luck Dave.

One of the lads in Lionel's shop fishes the trap for carp in the winter, can't recall his name now. I spoke about it last year with him - fish to high doubles that don't see very much in the way of a dedicated carp approach.

What about Buckley common? See a few bivvies on there every now and then when I'm drving past, can't all be chasing rumours?

Default the mount

Hi i dont know if you have dont much time on the Mount since joining warrington anglers but its one of warringtons harder waters and tbh there is only one easy water on warrington and that is grey mist.

If you are willing to put time in on the mount then you will reap the rewards.

There are no 30's in there no matter what people say and after discussion with the baliffs on there we think there are 15 - 20 carp over 10lb and between 3 - 6 abover 20lb at the right time of year.

It is a couple of fish a season water if your lucky.

find features and lightly bait with a handfull of good quality boilies and fish a bumbell or a chopped as your hookbait for a quicker bite.

Don't fish it like a comercial like gwerydd lakes or commonwood

pre bait if possible with a small handfull of boilies on the same spot every other day for a week before you fish it.

Keep as quiet as possible.

Pin everything down on the lakebed.

oh and enjoy blanking

right im off to do a bit of pre baiting ready for my trip down there tomorrow good luck and hopefully see you on the banks soon

Franks Blog this week, looks like things on the up at this fishery

29th November 2011 Warrington Anglers Association Guardian Notes.

The past seven days have been hectic with fish being stocked in the Mount at Buckley which received 150 mirror carp and 150 smaller fish went in High Legh Fisheries to replace the total fish kill that occurred during last year's long freeze-up. All the fish were purchased from Winsford Anglers netted from The Ocean where they were thinning stocks. They included some stunning looking fish ranging in weight from 1.25lbs to 15lbs. Many thanks to Neil Boaz and his team and the Winsford volunteers.

Our netting team were in action on Monday when at the request of the Christleton Parish Council they finally netted Christleton Pit after being thwarted by a pair of protective swans earlier in the year. The wait was worthwhile as the water was lower making it easier to reach all the fish. We took out 180 carp averaging 8lbs with fish up to 18lbs plus comprising of 10 mirrors with the remainder being commons which joined the fish stocked earlier at The Mount. This underused water in now back in business with a vengeance the rest is now down to our members.

If they've put that many fish in the mount it has just ruined it for everyone that fishes it!!
Fished the place myself for years before Warrington got it and the first two years they had it.
Some stunning fish to go at, it's abit tricky at times but effort equals rewards.
There fishing on there hasn't been the same tho since all the three lakes flooded into one back in 2000- 2001.

the mount is doomed............its full of pasties....its on par with a commercial......its a shame because the original fish are stunning........you will not get an hours sleep,i had to wind in last night.....if youre a serious carper then you will not enjoy it one bit......its more suited to match style tactics..a shame for all the LOCAL people that were not consulted, neither were the bailiffs...........a sad day for the history of the mount

i know some ocean fish have reached big weights in the past, when stocked in to other venues, but surely these fish are poor conditioned and stunted?
