Default Hassle at Sale Water Park last nite

Hi all
Just returned to carp fishing after 2 years out as wife has had a baby.
Went to Sale Water Park on Wednesday for a 3 nighter but have come home early. Was fishing by the motorway and around 11pm tonight 3 blokes in hoodies have hit a fella in a swim approx 200 yards to my left. He is unsure what has gone missing defo his 2 rods and reels. His landing net handle has been snapped and the guy has a bloody nose, and his glasses smashed. I have helped him to get his gear back to his car as the bailiff must have gone home and the gate was locked. Straight after I packed up and got off the water smartish. Its now 2.15am in the morning and I am knackered but cant get to bed in case I wake the wife and baby up. Got all my gear covered in mud and its just been thrown in the back of the van. If you fish Sale guys be very very careful these guys were obviously drunk or on drugs and to be quite honest despite me being able to look after myself I was really scared. I wont be going anywhere near the place again. If any of you go be careful these idiots could spoil a decent venue. Suggested to the poor man that got hit to report it to the police but he said they did sod all last time this happened. By the way had a run in the afternoon but missed it. Anyone know any safe venues as I have only just returned to the carp scene?

bloody hell mate you had a lucky escape there, could quite easily have been you to be honest with you i have just joined a syndicate where i live for the very reasons you have put in your post, this sort of thing is happening too often and too little is being done to stop it, i'm 6' 2'' and can handle myself but if three blokes jumpped me while i was asleep i would'nt stand a chance, seems to me the only thing to do is fish in pairs or find a safe water if you can, all the best Daz

What the f... is this all about when all us anglers are trying to do is do something we have done since we were boys, my mate who i go fishing with is always careful at which venues he picks when he is going on his own, i have just got back into this after three years out, and i used to say to him that he was being a bit mard, but what i have seen or heard since getting back into this in the angling press and more on the net, it looks like it is a regular occurrence, i certainly will not be letting my youngest lad do any overnighters anywhere unless he is with me. I am not sure what the over all answer is to these theiving f.....g scumbags, but what i would say is try to pick safer venues and i know this might not always be possible for everyone, or try to get out in numbers, if not maybe ask on this forum if any of the lads are getting out i am sure some of them would not mind somebody extra tagging along.

Thats really not on mate, i feel for the guy who got smashed. The same thing is going to happen with me i think, im up in derby at the moment, studying at uni, but im itching to get behind the banks again, so i have asked around at fishing this ark pool but i keep hearing the same thing from people time after time, "decent carp in there mate just F****** idiots there too". This i find soooo annoying because i know there is good carp in there from walking round and witnessing but do i fish it because there are idiots?

Thumbs down

A very sad story. Is this just a sign of the times?

Such cases do seem to be getting more common in recent years – yob mentality rules.

I’d definitely push the guy to report it to the bailiff and the police. As he says, little will come of it, but at least it’s down in writing. If we ever hope to get a grip of chav Britain then those in power need to know exactly how bad it’s getting out there – even on a fishing lake!

Sorry to hear this sad story. I hope the guy is ok and that you have not been put off your over nighters. It is sad to think that all we want too do is fish and mind our own business. This type of behaviour needs to be addressed because it is definately on the increase, how I don't know any idea's?

Can i ask a question
Why does water attract all sorts of idiots?? it's strange.
Everywere i'e fished even my syndicate which is in the middle of no were seems to attract some sort of weirdos, tramps, hoodies and random people asking stupid questions about fishing.

Remember one night about 2:30am some bloke can walking down in shorts and t-shirts in the middle of summer asking for directions...... what!!!! were surround by 3miles of field for f++k sake!

Lowey.

This kind of thing makes me sick - I fish to get away from the normal day to day hassles of life! Only for idiots to intrude upon this thinking they can take whatever they feel!
3 guys in the night, it's not something anyone would be wanting to be faced with!
I would love to think I'd stand a chance and make their lives as unhappy as the people they steel from! Fingers crossed I'm not presented with having to make that choice! Or find out if I would!
Gutted for the guy in question! Truly mortified!

Another thought prompted from this, and one that shouldn't be needed but - I must get my gear insured!

http://www.tackleguard.co.uk/home.asp

Average price for £3000 worth of tackle and coverd whilst in your car is £60 a year or £5.05 per month ..... half the price of a pack a mainline lol

Yup - most of thge time they're after our hard-earned tackle. Obviously insurance helps, but the way things are these days, so long as its insured, is it really worth it?

Judging the amount of stabbings murders and shootings these days its fast becoming a joke. Fish in groups on sound waters if you can, but nothing's safe these days
