Default Brookside Fishery, Warrington, Cheshire

Hi guys, new to this place my first post, nice site only just found it

anyway planning on having a go for these 2 x 30s in brooksides specimen lake.

Ive been for a look around its only a little pond in the middle of a match anglers paradise, nice little place though.

Couldn't squeeze anything out of the fella on there though, apart from he told me 2 x 30s come out of the same peg, in the same night!!

Has any1 got any information on the size of the carp in there, just general info on size and amount.

or maybe even advice on not to bother

Thanks in advance.

I would personally find out how accuarte the comments about the 2 30+ fish are. How can you catch 2 30's if they arn't there and some noddy has weighed them with rubbish scales and a wet sling!?

Firstly find out the actual fishs tocks so you know what you have to work with. Then the best thing to do once the weather gets better would be to watch the water in early mornings and late afternoons looking for signs of fish.

Once you start to learn the fish's traits, you then have an armoury to try and catch them.

Picking out fish can always be hard unless stalking, but if you plan it and implement it well, then there's stopping you!

Good Luck and Tight Lines

Hi Crafty,

Welcome on board. Have had a quick scout and seen a few snippets about carp to 35lb but no images to speak of so how accurate they are I’m not sure. I’m sure one of our forum members in that neck of the woods will be able to offer advice.

Cheers…

Julian

I did 2 sessions on here years ago..........was disgusted to find 3 dead fish around the specimen lake...........both were high teens.......... we told the bailliff on site and he threw them up the bank......... the folowing week we found 17 dead fish including 3 20lb + fish again we told the bailiff..........he shrugged and said hed have to buy some more !
In my opinion this venue is only interested in one thing YOUR MONEY there appeared to be no interest whatsoever in the fish care. Surely the lake should have been shut down and the EA brought in to identify the problem..........We asked for a refund which was refused 'as we had already started fishing'.......... we wrapped and left.........

Hopefully the fishery will have improved over the last few seasons............. When i fished it it did have two moster commons in tho.... one of which i witnessed on the bank....

hi mate i can definitly confirm that there is 2 x 30s in brookside.1 is a mirror about 35lb (two tone)photographed by me in 2004 and was in top condition.the other 30 a common was witnessed by me the very next day caught off the top at about 32lb again in cracking condition.there are about 12 other fish between 20 and 28 lb and loads of smaller fish including 3 cats 1 over 30lb 1 over 20lb and a pussy.i enjoyed the water but the owner lets 2 many anglers on when nightfishing so i pulled off.

I honestly don't think that there will be that many large fish to move after the events I witnessed earlier this year, if you search the links you will find my very first post was the reporting of quite a large fish kill on this water. The place was packed and the people fishing it at the time seemed oblivious to the floating corpses and carried on fishing. It was a very sad sight to see as there were some very large fish bobbing about in the margins. Who knows, maybe the owner ordered some new ones from Sainsburys

Fished on there 3 years ago, there used to be a picture board with all the big fish on it. I had a 29lb 8oz long common,33lb 2 tone common and loads of pasties. All were caught less than 18 inches from the bank. Would not be a bad little water but for all the anglers he lets on,awoke one morning to find a float fisherman three foot away, whiping the water right above my hook bait so had to call it a day. Have not been back since but any news would be great to here

Sounds like the last place in the world I'd want to spend any time and money fishing? More importantly where have these fish come from?

fished once myself, got there first light and waded through the empty cans of stella left by the crew on the other side. Got set up and decided where to put my baits, once I cast them a guy came running around from the other side (part of the stella crew) and told me to move my baits as they were in his swim

I moved ALL of my baits off the water, never to return

seems a shame to me that fish of that size and quality are in a water like that where the bailiff doesnt seem too concerned
is there some sort of organisation that you could maybe report it too ?
there should be some sort of rules regulating how fish and the waters they are in are safeguarded
