I haven't been there since the autumn but the best bet this time of the year is normally a load of spodded maggots and fish a small bunch on the hair.
That's what I will be taking with me next time I am down.

I was on there towards the end of last year did two nights and blanked, but there was a guy opposite me on the bottom bank and he spodded a hell of a lot of maggots in and had three fish within about 2hrs. I was also told bags work well also, i think it would pay to do a recce first before you pick your peg as it is quite a big lake. I wish i had done abit of research first because i would of took a few pints of the old wrigglies down

Oxlease has been recently netted and most of the carp came from the right hand side wooded bank(opposite the platform swims)
This is where I would start as it could be where they hang out this time of year.

I was on a few weeks ago. Had 3 out from the woods side. It was when the platforms were shut cause of flooding.

I was basically launching PVA bags of pellet as far as i could with boilie.

My mate was on the peg just below the island (where theres 3 pegs in 1) and he also had a few on a similar method.

Everybody seams to spod out loads of bait on there so most times ive been i've just fished pva bags and been quite succesful. (i did put a few spods of particles out last time though)

Good luck!

I'm not to sure on the stocking in terms of numbers matey, the web site says about 2000 in 26 acres. The average size is around 20lbs with fish recently just over 40lbs.

Ive been there a few times and always caught, my biggest out of oxlease is 23.9 and every trip usually throws up a 20 or 2. The ironnic thing is that Oxlease is the lake on the complex that your meant to have the most chance of a 20 but ive been Brasenose a few times and had more 20's out of there and Up to 27+! (You do have to wade through countless upper doubles though too)

I'm going down next Thursday night and fishing through till Sunday if ya fancy a bit of a Social, if not i'll let ya know how i get on.

This is what it said in the article I read.....

"Here's a bit of inside info for you-the most fish were caught from the wooded swims on the right hand side bank"

I took that to mean the as you first approach the lake the long bank that is on your right which runs the length of the lake and takes you towards the island.
The best way of describing it is the opposite bank to the platform swims.

Hope this makes sense

If your taking maggots to Oxlease you don't take pints, you take gallons, I would take at least 3 gallon get a good bed of em down and keep topping it up.............Feed them and they will come

I second that.I would put out a gallon to start and as you say, constantly top it up during your stay.
