Read this topic, I and one or 2 others posted there about Roman Lakes. I'm planning a trip up there the week after next, midweek.

Hiya mate,

Ive been there a few times and what i will say is that dont even consider it for weekends as its full (and i mean full) of kids messing around with toy rods.

Also the gates dont open until 8AM and they shut at dusk.

Just my opinion, but i really dont like the place and wont be going again.

Obviously its worth a try if you havent been and I can give you directions if you want coz it is rather hidden away

Roman Lakes...

Not a bad place at all for a cast in winter, I wouldn't dream of making it my target water though, like people said its full every weekend and doesnt warrent the size of fish for the money you'd be paying.

Every time Ive fished it was on a weekend, and it was never rammed with kids using play rods, i suspect this would be in the height of summer, anyone who fishes a day ticket in the height of summer and doesnt expect this, well your the fool Theres not a day ticket in the country thats not rammed with noddys in the summer.

As far as the fish are, no 2 fish are the same, something that i like. they all have a little charecter, most of them are roughly id estimate in the 17-22lb bracket, I couldnt say the biggest in there, i have had about 10-12 out biggest being 22. They are not simmos which is more that can be said for alot of other waters nowadays.

By all means, get on there in the winter for a little bash but stay away during summer!

Whats with the negative vibes towards almost every water? I dont quite understand it myself, the only reason i can think of is because you fish there and dont want nobody else on?

I dont think i have ever EVER heard a good report on any waters that arnt syndicated/club memberships with a vast array of members on the forum. If thats the case then other clubs are slagged off.

Theres nothing wrong with Roman Lakes Carper90, its a day ticket carp fishery, they are all the same.

If its not your cup of tea, which is fair enough.

How about not post disrespecting somebodys business?

Dont think it should turn into a slanging match

I dont like the place, I will admit, mainly because of the opening times and experiences with kids. But its just about what your looking for when you go.

As for Day ticket waters. I havent found any good ones, thats why I have had to join SOTAS, unless you can suggest any good ones in the northwest?????

Im not trying to start an argument mate. Im just stating a point.

Everybody seems to slag off every water to an extent (see previous post)

Do you guys not realise thats just day ticket fisheries for you? They are all the same, if you dont like it then you shouldnt use them. If your not fond of the crammed kids/noddys.

Try joining a club like sotas/lymm/warrington, fish there for a while and try and nose your way into a syndicate.

Everybody has to start off somewhere, and its day tickets, if you want to fish daytickets, then go midweek/winter and youll find its all yours and can be as good as anything!
