Default Horseshoe lake

I am considering joining the carp society just so I can fish Horseshoe, reading thier website it is grossly underfished and with 30x30s (to 42lb) 100x 25+ and a couple of hundred 20,s looks a better bet than the annual trip to Linear.

Has anyone fished it? Do you recomend it?? Is it worth it. (£15 for 24 hours)

Thanks

Ian

I think so.

Was gonna join to go for a week at the end of the month but it runs the traditional closed season

Would love to fish there before it all changes.

Hi Garath,

ive read on another site run by Ian Poole that they have scrapped the close season on Horseshoe and it will be open right through. Its on a site called angling focus. Id paste the link but it appears the site is down at the moment.

They do hold some carp schools and adult master classes during the close season so i presume that martins friend is fishing one of those (probably wrong )

I fished one of the junior carp schools a few years ago and loved the place. When i get my car then i'm definately buying a season ticket for it or i'll at least do a few days on there on a day ticket basis.

I can't really say much about the place as, like i've already mentioned, i have only fished it the once. The fish are gorgeous as you have already probably seen and i had a cracking 20lb + fully scaled mirror whilst i was there. If you were there for a good few days then it might be a good idea to put alot of bait out but if not then roam around the lake casting bags to showing fish as they are very nomadic in there and are constantly on the move.
