Blankmaster may be your man if you have a look at the current catch report thread! A right clonker, that one!!
Macc c**** at Buglawton has a respectable head of carp and quite a few ghosties to mid doubles I believe.

regarding the can-als, theres a few well known areas that produce carp, the kelloggs factory on the bridgy, the wides at billinge on the trent and mersey, spike island on the sankey, the hotties/church street in st helens etc etc
theres loads of others too, anywhere around moored boats is worth a try, same for turnaround points
the match results are worth looking at closely too, specially in winter, its not uncommon to see winter matches won with a carp or two, you just have to be prepared to do the homework to find them really
top info marker !!!

ive fished c****s for carp for a long time and if i could give any advice it would be ............

find the fish first and foremost ,looking at the likes of boats, reeds ,rushes in fact any feature at all !!!!(one c**** ive fished a small tuft of growth in the edge on a featureless stretch could be the hotspot to fish )

i like to prebait if possible (pellets and boilies is my favourite combo ) with no messy prepping

and...................

fish the margins both sides of the c****. in my limited experience ive found that the nearer to the wall you get the bait the more likely a run will occur not done much from the middle of c****s which ive tried a fair bit to !!!!

This time of year i have found its best to pick a local anglers brains as the carp tend to hole up in the areas Marker mentioned they will also hole up in the deeper areas of the can.al esprcially when the weather gets colder.A visit to the nearest tackle shop may help to find these areas as Marker says you have to find the features to fish to .Lock pools can be good at this time of year as they are usually deepish and with boat traffic minimal in the winter months they dont get to much disturbance.

When i used to do a fair bit of ca.nal carping i used to just do short days-evening sessions into about the 1st hour or 2 of darkness used to put a fold away bike in the car and get to swims that were a long way from the nearest bridge or road so these areas get the least angling pressure. However in those days i was a lot fitter and single so lived, ate ,drank and breathed carping/fishing .
