Default Astbury Mere

What are your opinions on this water?

People on there that I have spoken to have said its packed with decent carp, but due to a snail bed or something like that, the carp are never hungry and its really hard to catch.

A guy on there said he'd been fishing there all weekend, every weekend since April and had nothing!!!

Anybody had success on this water???

Have done about 5 overnighters and had 2 fish, so not too bad for time on the bank to fish caught. Certainly not an easy water, the biggest problem I found is finding the fish, both that I had were close in, 1 under the rod tip and one 15 yds out. They seem to move around a lot and don't keep in the same spot very long, when I've seen them feeding or showing in the same swim for a while then I have caught one pretty quickly.

There are a couple of swims that produced more fish though, but can be difficult to get on them for obvious reasons.

Using chest waders to place baits and have seen a lot fish passing through around my feet, even though the big mirror has gone there are a lot of 20's in there and possibly above, a lot of which are commons. Is also a lot of smaller commons though, low doubles etc.

I just got p*****d off in the summer with the kids, didn't give me any grief but just not the most peaceful of places to spend an evening. Am thinking though now might be the time again before winter sets in.
