well as you may know most people fish in the garden side and most fish get caught off this side. but personally i would try spots on the main lake as i have found seem to feed more confidently on this side. i could be wrong as i have only fished it a couple of times.

Thumbs up

Hi Nick,

Much depends on the time of year. Most winter anglers favour the deeper water in the Garden pool so if you are targeting the place now it might be a good place to start. The Snags down by the boat house have provided a few fish over winter and the big bush next to the one-rod swim can often throw up a fish. Other than that anywhere along the hall side, just chucking out around 20-yards.

As soon as there’s a bit of sun I’d be checking out the other areas of the lake as they then begin to mooch around further up towards the shallows, and they are not that difficult to spot. As summer arrives they are all over the place and a mobile approach will often work well.

For my own part, I love stalking on the Main Lake and have taken fish from all over, but keep quiet and they will come right into the margins – I’ve had most of my fish within a rod length of the bank, just go for the swims that have plenty of marginal cover.

Until the bankside vegetation grows a bit, I’d fish further out. Most decent baits will do well, although I know baits that did particularly well last year were Mick’s Snail and Shell and a number of the bigger fish fell to Nash S Mix with Robin Red, Monster Crab and Cinnamon.

You can see the water profile here: http://www.northwestcarp.co.uk/Fisheries-Guide/Cheshire/Venue_Profile_Capesthorne_Hall_Main_Lake.html

Any more questions, just ask!

Cheers…

Julian

bait the spots matey and keep moving ! its tough on a day session when you want to set up camp but believe me i have seen the resulkts for jules and staying behind the rods works but not as effective as stalking them

Thats true, although in summer say fishing the pads, the ewe tree or the oak tree etc (+others ) you are never far from the fish. I've caught one or two with bags but tend to use singles with a scattering around the area. I know people who use bags religously and catch too. As for pop ups.......... i don't like them, prefere critically balanced, but my mate has caught on small pop ups and straight off the lead.

Always be prepared to move though!!!

Rather than using boilies do tigers, maize, magggots, worms, luncheon meat catch or are they devoured by the tench and bream before the carp gets to them?
thanks

I believe that a certain moderator of this forum has hammered capes with worms over the last "few" years

would you be confident sitting behind the rod and leaving a worm out for several hours? the same way as you would fish a boilie.

Personally, No.

The only time i'd use worm is to drop in infront of a stalked carp, or a marginal area that i've watched carp return to time after time.

A friend of mine spent last season getting ammered by tench using fake maize too.

bait the spots and move round espcially when using the worms

jules has sluaghtered the place by stalking, baiting 6 or 7 swims and constantly moving round the place. some days it works some days it doesnt but IMO persistence pays off

i have come round the idea of stalking and absolutely love it!

sit behind the rods at night stalk during the day (where possible that is)

Ah… your powers grow strong young Jedi.

Take your weapon. Strike me down with all of your hatred and your journey towards the dark side will be complete.

Alternatively, just drop that worm in up against the sedges and wait for the take

You are truly a Jedi master now young 'Jules Carpstalker' but beware of the dark side and the legions of Noddy-troopers ...lol
