Default river goyt

anyone know who controls river goyt around stockport heard of a free stretch around pear mill but just want to make sure

as far as i know stockport fed have pretty much all the goyt in that area from portwood to brabyns park approx 4 miles

they definiately have the pear mill stretch anyway

Spoke to a fed bailif about the pear mill stretch and he said the fed owned the water but not the banks so as far as he's concerned it's free to fish ...

Very confusing statement as i was always told when i worked in the land and property department of a large city council that:-

Whoever owns the banks/land that surounds a water owns the fishing rights.
