Default merrington

Merrington is very much a Maggie water mate ,, if ya doing 24hrs take about 8 pints of reds,, works well.Best peg ( the one that i've seen produce alot of fish) as you arrive at the lake from the path theres an island infront of you fish the first peg on the right and fish down towards the stock pool about 4foot of the bank,, ye old farmer tends to bait up there whilst feeding the stock pool . And get prepared to get on ya pins and move swim to find them babies if ya cant' get that swim i mentioned.... All along the right handside of the lake is good,,where the wind hertles towards you, theres always a lot of fish holding up in this area,, fishing the float 8 foot from the bank on the drop with three reds with light line works wonders,, just keep the feed going in on a regular basis small but often.

And there are purpose built shelves and platoo's which fish well.

Good look

Some nice fish in there and they have been fed on Bandit baits, Think they are the "Merrington Specials".
Dave must be doing a deal with them and yes they are the baits to use on there!!!

Hi guys.
Ive spoken to dave about the "merrington specials" and he tells me that an awfull lot of it has gone in merrington and they do still get their heads down on it. He tells me that there is no `deal` between him and the farmer or wes for that matter, yet, but i think there was supposed to be some aggreement with dave supplying them with bait, nothing has been sorted up to now though.
One fact i can tell you is, all the biggest residents in there have fallen to daves bait. Not sure if im supposed to let that one slip but hey, in for the penny, in for the pound!!
Jamie.

How did ya get on

just really interested to hear how the lake is going mate,,, i haven't been there for about 10weeks now ... did ya get chance to speak to Elaine (farmers daughter) or the farmer.. coz its surposed to be getting more stock and from what the farmer told me last time and if his contact for the new batch of carp falls through ,,, its gonna be simmonds and quite a few of em... also has he put any roach and perch in the water as he said he was doing coz it needs it...

kind regards

Paul

Talking

Spent the weekend on Merrington with Mike and Stu. For those of you that know the place Mike fished peg 4 to the snags and corner of the one of the islands, stu fished open water in peg 5 and i fished open water and the top margin in peg 6.

At 4am ish on Saturday mike had the first fish which turned out to be a 18.4lbs common. Shortly after he had a small (approx 5lbs) mirror which has come about through spawning.

Saturday morning i lost one from the middle of the lake and as i was packing up on sunday i lost another .

There is an additional 130 fish being stocked at some point through the winter and yes, these are Simmos upto 15lbs.

The farmer acknowledges that the fish have spawned so there are a few small carp in there. He said something about possible putting in pike to try and stop this.

The lake itself is excellent. The pegs are well made with bark chippings. they are well laid out. the fish were in tip top condition. They were crashing out constantly while we were there day and night.

The bacon Sausage and egg butties delivered to the peg each morning were spot on

All in all, i'm pretty impressed with the place.

Back on next Saturday for a quick 24hour session, gotta break this duck!

Yeah, have to echo Gareths comments, the place looks excellent, comfy pegs and is very well run!

Would have been nice to catch one myself (think I was spoiled with our last Sandhurst visit!) but I think in a few years the place will be excellent!!!

And don't forget the extra long bivvy pegs!
It just makes setting up a lot easier

Went again this weekend. the weather was great!!! Absolutly bounced down!

As per usuall these days i caught sweet FA. Also as per usual Mike had 3 out. The biggest was 22.4 common followed by a 18.8 common and a small mirror. My other mate also had a 21 common.

I'll try and get some pics up but there on Mikes Camera.
