need some help on poynton.

Hi all,

I've been fishing poynton since it opened and have been having a little trouble getting into the fish. locating them is no probelm as they cruise around all day in one end of the lake. i put baits out and the fish continue to cruise around un-aware that the baits are there and its begining to get rather frustrating anyone had any success there and want to or wouldn't mind sharing a few tips? any help would be greatly received

Correct me if im wrong leather man but is there not a night fishing ban on poynton ? or do you class yourself as exempt from parish council rules ? ? ?

i was just thinking the same thing obviously the rules dont apply to everyone.

this is all true, but everyone breaks ruls at some point, even if it is just using a 3oz lead when it should only be 2oz etc. not saying it is right just putting it into perspective

the thing with breaking the rules is not to draw attention to it. your advertising the fact that your night fishing for all to see. there will be anglers who night fish poynton on the qt that will now not be able to. such info should be passed in a pm. you could still post the fish pics just dont say what time you caught them

cos anyone with a pc can read posts on this forum that includes any member of stockport fed. it only takes one coarse angler to read that post and report it to the relevent authority and there will be rangers patroling the water looking for people. there are enough coarse anglers who have it in for carp anglers belive me, i know you have now edited the post but don't you think a little thought before writing it would have been a better way to go

As Braidman says there are enough coarse anglers who have it in for carpers!!

Though we all come under the big umbrella called Anglers or angling there are different groups within our sport and we just do not seam to get along ,there are:
Carpers and spec hunters , Match anglers ,pleasure fishermen and of coarse the dreaded noddy all the above groups have noddy's within their ranks.and thats just for coarse anglers there are also the fluff chuckers and sea anglers as well.

Believe me when i say match anglers would love to see nothing better then carpers booted off venues like Poynton pool and Compstall as it anoys a lot of people as some of us can occupy a swim for 1,2,3 days a week etc etc .
With carpers not visiting the venue because carping is banned on that water, woulld make many more swims available for them to drown their maggots in.

Treat all non carpers as you would treat an ANTI ,be very careful what you say to them!!

In fact treat em like a mushroomm.

Keep em in the dark and feed em on s**t.

Leather carp what, apart from the obvious would you say are the better swims on poynton?

oh and i don't EVER night fish

I don't think you'v had much help andy,

you started a post asking for help and all you've had is..

"look at how good i am!" from leather carp,

i don't know a thing about poynton so i'm of no help,
but what help's been put your way is little,
a friend of a friend once fished it, i'l email him for you,
and send you a pm

Leather Carp; For what it’s worth, I would suggest peoples comments about your posts may be more to do with your seeming disregard for club rules rather than any petty jealousies.

Hi Chaps,

It seems the curse has been lifted! I went on poynton this weekend with a mate of mine who i fish with all the time. Between us we had 9 fish,

i had

17lb 8oz mirror
12lb 8oz mirror
13lb common
11lb mirror

he had

13lb mirror x 2
15lb mirror
16lb mirror
22lb 8oz common

so all i all a good session, learnt a hell of a lot about the place too.
