Default Horseshoe lake

Hi everyone I've recentley joined the carp society so I can fish Horseshoe and I'm planning a trip down there in the next month or so,looking through past threads I've seen that a few monkeys have fished on there and was wondering if anyone could give me some advice about tackling the place-thanks in advance

Only ever done one 48hr sesh on there in July about 5yrs ago.I fished in summer bay just up from where the Korda DVD was filmed. The only 2 fish that came off while I was there were from that very swim A 25 and a 19.I found a gap in weed and starting catching tench, the fella in the next swim said I was probably going to catch a carp soon as once you can present a bait and the tench are onto it he reckoned the carp should follow.Unfortunately I had to leave just as the tench were coming on.

I would maybe follow the wind on there mate and keep it simple if you are on fish you should catch as theres a lot of fish in there. If the regulars are anything like the lads who were on when I went all they will do is confuse you.One would say 'they're all moving in winter bay, get on the move'.
Another 'summer bay is heaving just flick a bag in!'
Another 'they're all on the entrance to summer bay get in there'

You get the picture, I just slotted in where I saw a fish caught from and also where I saw a fish in the margins. The bottom of summer bay was rammed with 100+ carp but it was all stitched up.Just use your loaf mate and you will probably catch a few eg move onto showing fish etc etc

I fished it several times. Gorgeous looking fish, second to none but they get mega pressure 24/7 .
My advice like any where else find the fish, dont jump in the famous pegsbecause they are free. if they are in summer bay do not marker or spod!! they will be offski if you do. Blanks are much more common than catches.

Get up at first light and they will give themselves away (spring -autumn)
move on them when they show. Leave the bivvy behind just take the rods and buzzers to the peg, a small bag and a bait cast to these showers will catch more then a week will sat over spod mix ( most times!)

Fished the place for a good number of years.
First thing to do is take your blinkers off and open your eyes. Second you are a Northern angler, you will have few problems on there after fishing up here (that is not a north-south thing but a fact).

They do not like rain of any kind! If it starts to drizzle they will start to drift out of summer bay, if the weather then becomes mixed they will probably hang at the entrance to summer bay, if it is heavey rain they will move to winterbay or if winter bay is pressured then they will move up the Witney bank.
It can be bag city down there! don`t be afraid to do something different! Because it is considdered old hat the method feeder is not used much, get on it! When first introduced at Horseshoe the lake record for casting the method out and getting a take was arround 1min 30sec!!!
Yes you can spod in summer bay and I would have no hesitation in doing so. There will be any number of people telling you, you can`t because the fish will do the off, this is one of the many Horseshoe "miths", don`t fish the clear spots and they spook off big beds of bait is another.
