Most consistent swim for me was through the gate, first on the left. As you look across the water there is a channel with snags either side with a snag right down the channel. Fish on the left tip and also far down the channel, you need to be tight though and right on your rods. Did well on slow sinking baits, used to use 10-12mm snowman rigs with no freebies, the fish are usually there and they don't need feeding.

If the snags are taken fish the end near the road and cast across to where the birds are fed, aim at the lamp and the board. The bottom is hard from the birds feeding and not as silty, gets constant supply of food from the bird lovers. Had a few from here using method feeder.

Good luck

re: winterly match lake

as i posted in the earlier thread i had 6 fish outta the match lake at the back when i went down there last year, all of em were around the 10lb mark,
talking to some others on at the time that seems about the average, although there are a few bigger ones aswell, a reported 18lb'er came out the night before i got there so there could be the odd fish around 20

same deal with the snags though, sunken branches all around both islands and apparently not many fish come from open water, you better fish locked up or get on it quick else you'll lose the fish in the snags

btw the 2 islands are really 1 with the trees cleared out from the middle so it can be litteraly inches deep between em

The pool is in the small town of winterly just off the Crewe - Sandbach main road. It can easily be seen from the road through winterly
