hi

there is a organisation called the scottish carp group which have entiltements to fish and stock several lakes aroung edinburgh and glasgow the two main ones that i fish is fintry and lanark loch. I hope he isnt expecting to catch monsters up here its hard work and catching a 20lb is a real accomplishment.

If he gives me a call i can give him more info and meet up and show him some of the lakes or perhaps a overnighter. Its £35.00 per year which runs from jan to jan the web site is Scottish Carp Group and mind you dont need a licence up here to fish.

pm me and i will give my number if you want

cheers

On reading your demand, which it is.. I think you are in really short supply of a few characteristics that are required in the field of work you are persuing. It is not a polite request in any shape or form for people that are happy to submit their reports and photographs.
No please, no thank you in advance, no look forward to hearing from you?
It is no wonder the North West reports section of the paper have dwindled to barely... Nothing.
Nobody bothers submitting any worthwhile news to Carp Talk anymore, there are reasons why.

In a mood tonight are we?

I think it may be something to do with poor grammar and spelling, ergo, too much proof reading is needed prior to print.

That's my twopenneth.
So there!

i understand your concerns but please read the whole post at the end when i thank everybody for their time and wish them tight lines but obviously the last bit was not looked at.

I fish in the north west every other week and fish wyreside quite often to and have spoken to numerous fisheries to whom i know. Yes i am quite new at this so i apologise if you feel i am a bit forthcoming and live a bit far away, but i do put the time in on the region may i say i have been asked to look after aswell as my own area.

thanks for your time and for any information you put forward.

cheers

Hmmm... not the best way to start a beautiful friendship!

I wish you all the best with it mate, truly I do - I just find it a tad cheeky that you request info from my site (for commercial gain I might add!) without first asking if it were ok to do so.

…and I won’t even mention the name dropping of a bait company when the norm is to pay for exposure around here!

Tight lines all the same…

Julian

Im with Salford on this one. For someone who is wanting people to hand their catch reports and information over to you, you havnt gone about it the best way

Us Northern Monkeys are grumpy barstuards at the best of times

Good luck with it anyway

Chris

i am sorry if there is confusion but to clarify i said if people COULD forward and catch replies with as much info as they WISH. it was not a demand and there is no commercial gain for me from this at all, as i dont get paid to do this as i do it i my own time and also i buy the mag to see where fish are coming out if the water has been disclosed.

hmmm Now, if this is a scottish thing can i put the record straight i am from stoke on trent and moved up here for work i am a nice guy who loves fishing, as you can see one northern monkey was enquiring about his mate moving up here and where to fish and i offered my services to show him the lakes and go with him, does that come across as a plum of a guy as you are making me out to be.

Julian

sorry for not asking permission but i did look on the forum rules and nothing was stated in there about permissions for non commercial activity and thought because there was a catch reports section on the forum it would be ok, like i say i do this in my own free time i am not a sponsored angler and how is it different than talking about a venue on a post. Again i apologise for the bait companym wasnt a name drop just who sponsored the section in the mag and the company has nothing to do with me.

Maybe its because i new to this but the reactions of some people on here has showed me where carp fishings has really gone over the last ten years and really its quite saddening, this was a innocent topic to try and get some info for the mag i dont think i was rude in any way shape or form but have been ripped apart for little reason. Like you say no wonder the west doesnt get anything posted i think a little growing up is in order and take the thread for what it was intended which is to let anglers show of their catch reports like most forums do but this is a magazine

cheers

OK, let's have this right.

Irrespective of who's doing what for what and for whom - last time I looked Carp Talk cost money to buy. People buy it to see who's been catching - and what you are looking for is for people to furnish you with this info in order that column inches can be filled and copies can be sold - so sorry, but the 'non commercial' interest bit does not wash. Remember you were asking for info which was going to be used in the magazine - not for another free to access medium.

Secondly, to suggest that I or others need to grow up, or that comments we've made are reflective of the bad side in carp fishing is laughable. The only point I was making was that it would have been good manners to approach me before effectively spamming my boards. Nothing more.

Had you done so I would have happily given it a mention on the forum, the main site and even on an ecast out to the entire membership! Ask around, we're good like that! So please, don't spit the dummy and make out I'm the one in the wrong, or that I'm the one giving the sport a bad name.

Manners cost nothing. End of.

No need to apologise adi you've done nothing wrong fella, I think this has gone very, very petty and immature.

You have to "walk on eggshells" when posting on this site sometimes!!!

All the best with the mag...
