From what ive heard it wont be a case of which pit you would like to fish but which one you can sqeeze onto,i think the baliff has fueled the situation by putting up a reward of £1000 and 6 months free fishing to the first person to land the venues first forty which should be this year so best of luck fella !!

mate i fished it for 5yrs in mid ninetys and it was bad then..all the better swims were allways stitched...its even worse now a few mates still fish it but its a pretty dyer place....bait boats are banned now and all the fish just show at range (250 yrds ) all day and night....shame really as theres some good fish in but the locals will be the ones that are consistently catching due to the main swims being totaly stitched...add that to the rat problem and the odd tackle theft here and there and you start to get the picture...pm me if you need any more info..

Weren't all the pits subject to a major fish mix up at some point in the past due to severe flooding from the Trent? Bad if you're trying to target fish in a particular pit but good if you want a sense of the unknown I guess?

Have you had a look at Richmond lakes in Lincs? Not too up on current events of the gaff but saw some phots years back of some awesome fish in there (although not sure which one as there are two lakes IIRC?)

I remember being told of the mad bailiff who walked round barefoot looking a bit like ol' Charles Bronson and riding his bike around pot holed paths in the wee hours like a madman

Default a1 pits

I have fished the pits a lot and can't recommend it enough!!!

yes it does get busy but its a huge pit is pit 6 and the fish come out from 95% of the lake.

best time to get there is sunday evening about 5pm as all the weekend boys have to be out by 7pm as the gates get locked so you will have a good chance of getting on the hot swims.

have a look at the website as there are over 200 phtots of the pit 6 drained!!!

pit 5 and 6 hold the bigger fish and 3 and 4 are good for a few runs and are only 3 or 4 acres, pit 5 is about 20 acres and is like an egg box on the bottom!!!!

pit 6, follow the wind and look for the fish and dont forget the margins!!!! most do

tackle thefts and rats simply don't happen and are all rumors to stop people going there

pit 6 holds some fantatsic big commons as well

neil

mate i think chemical neils fishing a different a1 ....you may get the fish in the margins..thats assuming theres no lines goin through them which only happens in winter...if theres even a breeze on casting any range is a problem..and if your not on a hot swim...its a case of who casts furthest...there is some big commons in there and i hope you bag one good luck on your venture...( keep an eye on your gear and dont drop any food)
oh and watch the pot holes when your driving round...
tight lines...i dont try and put people of mate as i dont fish it any more
