The £1000 fine suggestion is a load of tosh. It may say so so on a signpost somewhere but in reality the most the owners could do is turf you off the land.

I think you're wrong there Steve, actually I know.

As an ex police officer there are a number of offences that can be thrown at you or just used for the power of arrest.
Not to mention civil action.

Spot on there as a mate of mine - who shall remain nameless! - did the exact same thing on a Water and he ended up with the following -

£100 release fee to get his vehicle unclamped!
Went to Court for tresspass and fined £250 + £170 Costs
It was reported in the local paper inc his name
The 2 Clubs he is in found out and they would not renew his membership!
And he now has a Criminal record!

Stay well clear if you have any sense.

I hear from a good source that the land is on a managed estate too, so the above may be getting off lightly.

A kicking from security / game staff could be the alternative!

Spot on as thats what they would get off me if I found someone sneaking around my property! And apart from that its just more ammo for the Antis and anybody else out there that want to have a pop. As usual its the mindless few that cause the problems for the rest of us!

as i said on earlier posts, my mate, who had a job where he was easily accessible and was/is known with a lot of local anglers, did get threatened with the fine and warned off. as before he may have been a target of someone to get him off the water as they wanted it to themselves but it is mega risky business down there. I may be wrong but i'm pretty sure if your caught down there they'll do you in any which way they can. it's not like it's farm land or anything with any right of way but private land. if your caught they'll pull down your pants and insert the long arm of the law as far as it'll go. if people want to try then fair enough but you have been warned.

The estate is run by the same land agents that run Capesthorne ( Fisher-German ), who have an office in Rosetherne. Drop them a line regarding fishing Oulton and they will put you in the picture

i've just heard that if they catch you they construct a 30ft high wicker angler which they entomb you in before carrying out a satanic cult ritual and burning you and your gear, sacrificing you to the anti angler gods and to bring a good harvest and excellent race days

I fished it this year january to april/may.

Got nicked, got shouted at, went back the following week, caught, got nicked again, went to the car after the session to find it on flattys I got nicked again the week after, gave him loads of verbals and ****ed off and thats me done on there i dont want to push my luck.

It is heavily patrolled now, the top end by the race track staff who drive around in a van, who will tell you to **** off down the other end, yes been caught by these too they tell you to sod off down the other end because they have no insurance if a bike flys off the track and kills you

There is a lad fishing it now who reckons he has got permission, which could be true, both times i got nicked he was there I am thinking of going back to punch his head in. Its not you is it fatmanscoop

The bugs are the worst on there, I heard of a couple who have ended up in hospital from it, my ankle got hammered, must of been ten bites i couldnt walk on it, I dare any of you to fish it in summer

Much easier places to poach - with bigger fish.

Who caught the mirror? I'd love to see a pic of if, I caught two commons, cracking fish too.

I was desperate for a mirror, every fish I ever seen was a common.

Fines, Nah, kicking by the staff? LMAO, stop it.

The biggest problem is the bugs, you cant erect a bivvy, or any sort of protection, you have to travel lightly because its a trek through swamps, over fences, through nettles, through reeds, its really not worth it. I say that as I know how big the big boy is too, I found out the hard way.

Thats my advice done, if you still fancy it after that , fish it in winter when the early nights set in, theres too many people about now.

Anyone who lives on the estate can fish the lake, includes the farms/houses down the lane.
Once bumped into an Aussie who was playing cricket for Little Budworth and staying at the farm, spinning for Pike. He thought it was hilarious the lengths we were going to to catch vermin from a lake and the owners actually wanting to stop us

Is the old Gamekeeper still around with the fetish for slackening off your wheel nuts !!!!

Could be worse though the lake that was stocked the same day as oulton from the same stock has far serious consequences for poachers. The landowner hates fisherman and usually has a 12 bore over his arm, not one to be messed with !!!

Steve

funny old game isnt it ??

remember a while back when i got my back tore out for merely suggesting people were poaching another nw water ????

here we are now later on openly disscussing poaching another nw water .

funny how attitudes change innit ?? (not aimed at anyone in particular of course )
