Default Delph lane/off m6 winwick lake???

Anybody know anything about the lake to the left of the m6 just before the winwick island heading north ( like a triangle shape with nothing around it ). it's off a road called delph lane. i'm looking for somewhere to do a bit spinning where we can walk all the way round.i just want an idea of who owns it and if theres anything in it really?

Private owned mate for fishing - just a few trout the owner put in there.

Saw someone fly fishing it last year, asked him if he'd had anything (I do a bit of fluff chucking..) and he just said ' You can't fish here mate it's private' !!!
Not the question I asked like but hey .........

I have seen a few trout when I've been walking the dog, theres a public footpath but lots of no fishing/boating/peeing in the shallow end type signs up.

i remember it when it was dug out its very deep and steep sided before that cows use to graze on there etc

the reason it was dug out etc was for the m6 motorway to make use of its soft sandstone round there for sub base etc. The land owner was promised that the land would be backfilled etc but is still battling to get it sorted.Well thats the tale i was told

It used to be grazing land for cows. It would flood in the winter and completely dry up in the summer.
As far as i know it became permanent when Parkside colliery closed. There are a lot of underground mines under there and the colliery used to pump them out.
Since it's closure there has been a lot of trouble with subsidence in the area as the mines are now flooded.
The "puddle" has been there ever since.
I dont think it's ever been stocked and untill recently the farmer still uses the remainder of it for grazing.
Having said all that i saw someone fishing it last week when i was out with the dogs but he'd gone by the time i'd got round.
If i see anyone again i'll ask and hopefully let you know more.
