Default Re: Self Takes

New to photography especially self portraits with Fish...grabbed myself a Powershot camera so I'm set up with the remote, swivel view finder etc

I have read a few threads and got some good tips from Olly Reed about setting the camera up for when you take the carp out of the sack etc

Does any one have any valuable tips that i can add so that when i take a self take trophy pic that it will be one that i don't look back in disappointment.??

Thanks

My biggest bit of advice would be invest in a tripod or a bank stick and camera thread thingey from Gardner.

Set it all up ready for the picture and do some non fish trophy shots to make sure you are happy with them.

Trust me once you have got the hang of it it's easy i do mine on a countdown timer and you will find you end up taking better pictures on your own.

Happy snapping

Good read that Julian..
I think that link should be read by everyone that's new to Carp fishing and im sure there's a few lessons for most people who grace the banks...

Anyone got any tips for taking shot's in the rain.? i.e is setting up the camera on a tripod just inside the Bivvy door a good idea while you get drenched.

Also the remote situation with taking the pic while holding the fish.? Do people drop the remote once it's pressed etc

Do you mean one that will work on cameras without a screw fitting?

If so, check this one out. The Kaiser can work with any camera I think, digital or otherwise.

Plenty of this ilk crop upon flebay

Cheers...

J

I've attached a long piece of looped string to my remote (just by stick tape) when you drop the remote it just dangles around your neck!
Also wrapped the remote in clingfilm, still works and stops cr4p getting all over it!

Had a whirl with some self takes at the weekend with the new camera unfortunately it wasn't christened on the overnighter with a fish...

Anyway thought i would try some other types of self takes..glad i was on my todd as im sure there would of been some banter...

May be we should have a thread going where people can show photo's of pose's etc

Not bad photo's 'J' but have you got the bivvy look away shot.?

The one that went wrong just to show every photographer has to do a boo boo now and again.!!!
