I did a bit on there with Shaun (Flash) during the SOTAS closed season, last year and the year before, but have probably done no more than ten overnighters in total.

It’s full of fish, far more than I ever thought were in there, but in the main they are quite small, averaging 8-14lb. That said there are a few to mid twenty, and I have a feeling there has to be something a bit special that nobody has hooked into yet, after all the place is massive.

The only question is the quality of the strains of those that have gone in, I’ve researched rough numbers & years but have struggled to find out exactly where most fish came from, bits from all over really .

In the warmer months the top end is best (where pics are taken) and we averaged a few fish each session. There’s not too much in the way of features but there are plenty of obvious spots to place baits that attract the fish; weedbeds, snags, trees, etc, and if possible a bit of prebaiting will have them jumping on your hooks.

Worthy of further investigation.

Best going in from the top (north) end and you can drive right down the side.

It’s on the SOTAS ticket but you can also fish it on day ticket, arranged in advance with John Davey.

Do you get many members of the public walking behind your swims astbury style? or is it quiet Julian?
Local youths or a quiet place?, looks really nice. Any info on the area would be appreciated

Cheers
