tripod (or bankstick and thread) ......and air ball release under knee ! perfect every time and no risk of damaging fish in the 10 second rush! also allows for multiple shots without having to put the fish back down on the mat each time !

Ive trimmed the length of air tubing on mine so that when layed out straight the tubing goes under the mat giving perfect framing of the shot everytime

this set up will cost about £15-20....well worth it as it will last a lifetime !

Tripod (No jokes for those who've seen me washing!)
G5 with the screen flipped round to see yourself
IR remote with 10 second timer held between the teeth

PRESS & SPIT (the remote)

If you havent got the air ball or the infa red like myself... I used to get set-up. rods out etc and then set the camera up.
Basically place the mat in position where you will be taking the pic, then get the bankstick that the camera goes on and set that at the right distance/height and then do a couple of test shots...
You look pretty stupid if somones watching you as you are there holding a pretend fish, but at least then when you get a fish all you have to do is fix the camera to the bank stick and then set the timer..

Another way of getting around the '10 second dash' is to set your camera to video mode and take a few seconds of video. Then, in the comfort of your own home you can extract a few stills from the video footage.

This allows you to get several 'photos' but only picking up the fish once. As a bonus you don't get any photos that make you look like you are trying really hard to count to 10 accurately either!

Mike.
