As stated in another thread, my brother in law has his own pond about 1/4 acre stcked with carp tench 1 perch
3 years ago he stocked 4 roach into it, well they have taken it over! It is full with em, in summer if you throw a handful of mixers in there must be 20 around each biscuit!! We need to get rid of them all and are wondering the best way, would you just net it? What about a jack or 2??? All ideas V. welcome!!! also what types of net are best!! Thanks in advance

Only real way would be as others have said net it with a micro mesh net and then ud get all the fry from the last spawning session, otherwise come next summer ud have the same problems!
or you could net it a couple of times then stick in a jack who would clean up the ones you missed! |

You need consent to net a water, and you also need consent to move fish from a water, and depending on where you intend to move fish to, you also need a health check carried out on the fish you intend to move (which needs to be done in advance). The result of which would determine if movement was possible.
Thus, to effectively net and remove fish from a water, you are looking at netting consent to take a sample of fish for a health check, and then consent to net again to remove, along with consent for the actual movement from one water to another. Much to be considered, I'd check with the EA before you consider anything as only then will you get a true idea of the work involved. Having just overseen a similar project I can tell you it can be bloody hard work, but worth it if we are to protect and maintain the quality and health of our fisheries. J |
