Angry Spam

No, not spam, spam, egg, chips and spam, but COMPUTER SPAM.

Is there any way (for free) to prevent it, or do I just have to live with it?

I use mailwasher, which can empty it quickly, but I'm just a tad fed up with receiving about 25 a day.

a lot of spam emails you get you can cancel through the site in question, the main reason for recieving spam is signing up to the bullsh*t forms that offer you free things etc..

Just after posting last night, I saw a link on the page "Spam filter for free".

Loaded, installed, works ok............but, it is possible to let friendly mail disappear in rare circumstances.

Just emptied the spam filter of 16 spam e-mails, which I didn't know I had.
Good system, and the price is right.

.

Just make sure you have a quick check through them before deleting them, Important e-mails do end up in these folders sometimes.

Part of the problem is that some of these spam messages have the "if you do not wish to be on our mailing list cancel by clicking here" message. By clicking on to this actually tells the spammers that they have located an active account......low and behold that opens the floodgates for all kinds of garbage. The best thing to do to prevent futher spam is to simlpy delete the message from your inbox prior to opening it. This doesonly apply to private accounts and not to the likes of Jules, unfortunatly.

I never open mail unless I know who it's from. However, that doesn't stop spam, once you have it, it's always there.

Problem now sorted thanks to SPAMfighter.
