Two in one trip!

Fortunately the second was not mine
This happened on Lac de Valdore last week.
Two young guys moved onto the lake in swim 26 on lake No.4. The normal thing is to bivi on the west bank and chuck towards the east bank, these lads decided to do it the other way arround. Good for them we thought, doing something different, it could well pay off!
Crediting them with that amount of sense was a major error, to which I now freely admit.
The only problem with fishing from the east bank is that there is a track which allows access to all the swims on that side, you can even park by your swim, however there is nowhere to turn round!!

So it is a pain in the neck litterally to back up the length of the lake.
Still that is the way it must be done, is it not?

The first night that they were on, they decided to go off somewhere, after backing up to the next swim they must have got fed up

as us and the cloggies in the next swim watched in disbelief as they started try and turn the car arround!!

The swims aint no flat piece of bank but a rather steep 30 degree angle down to the water and it`s grass and gravel. Thankfully they bottled it and backed the rest of the way down the track.
The next evening, they backed all the way up the track, all was well.
However, the next afternoon, they must have got a bit brave or stupid (it is a fine line), they decided that they would have another go at turning, only this time in their own swim (must have thought there was more room, but they were wrong

) The car came hurtling down the bank,

at the last moment two bodies flung themselves out of the car

the car carried on and.............. hit a conveniently grown tree at the edge of their swim causing the car to stop rather abruptly and slew around slightly only dipping the front offside wheel into the water
Both lads were unhurt, although rather white even for us from England!!!
I shot off down to reception (the bar) to get help, thinking if the car slipped in then it could be curtains for the fish due to the possible pollution. After explaining what had happened the response I got was, "oh, can you pull the car out as I am busy serving at the moment"

This guy had two tracktors, a JCB and a Trucking big wagon at his disposal and he`s asking me to pull a car out of his lake, to save his fish, because he is pulling beer?
He arrived some 45mins later, with his car

He with his car and some other English anglers with a 4x4 pulled the car out together.
Me, I did not get involved, if we were in the middle of nowhere then I would do eveything to help but in this situation where the proper equipement was available and not used? no way.
If when towing it out the tow had snapped and the car had gone all the way into the lake, who would get the blame for that? Toooo risky.
The lads by the way were not drunk........just DAFT!!!
