a few to get the grey matter working
a frog falls down a well 50ft to the bottom. he climbs 3ft per day but falls 2ft per night. how many days does it take him to get out
................................
theres a father, mother 2 daughters, 2 sons, a police man and a thief on one side of the river that need to get to the other side. only 2 people allowed in the raft at any one time. the father cannot be with the daughters without the mother present. the mother cannot be with the sons without the father present. the thief cannot be with any of the family without the policeman present. only the father, mother and policeman know how to work the raft.

Part one 50 days.
Not to sure with part two can you explain a little? does that mean the mother cant be alone with the sons on the other bank or just the raft? also does someone have to be on the raft to get it back to the bank:S

part one wrong
the mother cannot be left alone with the sons at all, raft or otherwise without the father. same goes for the father with the daughters, and the raft is manned continuously

Part 1 theres no answer because it doesnt say how far he actually falls, although it is 50ft to the bottom?

yep youre right there. climbs 1 foot every day in simple terms. so in the end, he climbs 47ft in 47 days, climbing 3 a day falling 2 a night, but on the 48th day he climbs 3ft and makes it to the top.
the second one is a pain in the backside! couldnt do it myself but i know the answer now (actually knew it before i put it up but only got it this afternoon)
