Did anybody read that bit about corrie street. It was about the polish x-mas dinner. Carp is on the menu twice. All i can say i have never seen carp being sold in any shop so where are they going to get them all from.

When I lived in Manc some time ago(over 15 yrs), there was a fishmongers stall in a small indoor market(can't remember exactly where tho') that had carp, bream and roach permanently on the slab.....I couldn't believe my eyes....

Somebody at Sainsburys needs a slap
This is part of the receipe for cooking ca... (sorry can't bring myself to say the word)

Clean fish and remove head. Cook head and spices in vegetable stock for half-hour. Strain. Place whole fish in pan.

i know it sounds harsh eating carp but the main reason we have them in this country is the monks using them for food. there was an episode of river cottage where hugh went to a carp fish farm where the guy was breeding carp for the table and hugh served some up. it's been the polish christmas dish for years and i don't have any problem with people eating them just as long as there coming from the fishmongers and not getting thieved from our waterways which is bang out of order in my eyes.
