Thumbs up Good news at last.

1.5% is a massive jump considering that they struggle with a cut of 0.25% most of the time.

Hopefully it'll kick start the economy and we'll avoid the frightening prospect of a recess.... (can't bring myself to write the full word, the last one bite very hard).

Also ASDA claimimg that they are lowering their petrol price to 92p per litre as of tomorrow.
More fishing trips on the cards (at least it's going in the right direction)

Great news as I am off to France in 2 weeks so hopefully it will still be the same price and the bonus is that france is usually 2 to 4 pence cheaper than here so theres a chance of it being under 90p

Re the interest rate being passed on to us I very much doubt that it will I think its been done to try and Kick Start the Economy ie Industry and Small businesses, but there maybe a chance on the Mortgage Front because at the moment the most agressive Build Society when it comes to Repossesions is the Government Owned Northern Rock Brown and Darling should have been slung on a bonfire last night IMO

There's a few more than just Brown and Darling. Stick the whole Houses of Parliament on there and I don't think we'd be that much worse off.

In regards to the interest rate, good news for me as I'm on the SVR at the moment. Feel sorry for those who've only recently signed up for fixed rates.

Conspiracy theories anyone?

Well Brown and Darling would be a good start and to be honest I would not waste the fuel on the rest of them

Sadly being on the SVR is no guarentee of you benefiting from the full 1.5% decrease - many of the Banks were talking only last week of not passing on the full % drop to mortgage customers.

I think it will depend on which Bank (or mortgage lender) you are with - those recently bailed out by the taxpayer will come under massive pressure to pass on the full decrease, others may try to wriggle out of it

Time for a cut in petrol / diesel duty - GET IT DOWN BROWN

they missed and absoloute trick when they gave all that money to get the banks going again. they should have stuck people in at the top of the banks to stop the top bankers pulling our pants down and shafting us. I can't believe that this was an overthought of the government as what do i know being a working class drunk?
