Default Cold war 2?

I didn't understand much about it the first time round.
Should we be worried about this lot or is just a load of properganda?
Or is it just hyped up media coverage as per the english press?

Have you noticed that the two main "objectors" to what the Russians have done just happen the be the UK and USA, noe lets try and get thhis into perspective......... these two are complianing about Russia entering a neighbouring "state" (USSR) who's record is not so clean and shiney, i'm surprised it took this long, are after all at this moment in time occupiying Afganistan and Iraq!
Until the UK and USA clean up their own act what gives them the right to dictate to others how to behave????????

Ok rant over, tin hat on, await incoming flak.

About sums it up mate to be honest.

Just a war of words at the moment as far as the uk/us is concerned, though obviousley much for serious for the Georgians.

The whole thing has been rumbling along for a number of years now with the uk and us, this is just the latest phase. The Russians don't like being told what to do, especially by us, so will make a point of getting our backs up whenever they get the chance - and if it allows them to flex their muscles a bit in the process, so much the better.

It may escalate in political terms but I wouldn't worry about an invasion just yet. They can't afford to fuel their aircraft, let alone maintain their fleet of nucular subs, most of which are currently rotting in their naval bases. Saw a documentary a while back which showed the state most of their subs are in, and showed how power blackouts across Russia meant they couldest even afford to keep the power on to keep the reactors cooled - now that is something to worry about!!

Couldn't agree more! And in order to keep that dictatorship sharp one needs to ensure that its citizens are kept in a constant state of perceived fear!

Fear and its manipulation helps keep people in line and silent, problem reaction, solution is the game:

Create a 'problem', the public panics (reaction) and then offer the solution you had up your sleeve from the start.

Numerous instances of this public manipulation can be seen throughout history, the original cold war and fear about 'reds under the beds' etc paved the way for nuclear armament to put the public's mind at rest!

The gulf war in all its incarnations made it a lot simpler for human rights to be removed and everyone to be labelled as a potential 'terrorist', the solution being a phased introduction of ID cards and the criminalisation of normal everyday citizens for daring to exercise their freedom of speech or protest in the UK!

The list goes on and I wonder what the purpose of this latest bout of mind control will be.........watch this space, rant over!

India, Africa, Hong Kong, Afganistan (twice at least) just a few that spring to mind. Remember the "British Empire". This country has a human rights record that is second to non, they don't call it the Black Hole of Calcutta for nothing......thousands killed by "Empire" troops in one town alone. GB not as white as white as would like people to think.
