Ive never fished for cats in this country but after getting bitten off by one last week and the water where it happend being quite small i think im gonna dedicate 1 rod to the cat next time im up there. just wondered what is the best bait for em, i had a chunk of meat on last time but thought maybe a couple of massive hallibut pelets?

If you had a chunk of meat on stick with that for now?

Halibuts will catch as it gets a bit warmer and in the summer months they will spend a lot of time off the bottom in the upper layers when you can catch them with Live baits or Leeches

Live baits, using a dumbell rig works for me. I get a buzz out of watching the dumbell twist and turn on the water surface.

Feed groundbaitballs made from AA Baits Betaine Ultramix, Medium Mixed pellets and longrange method mix with betaine.
For hookbaits I prefer a 14mm pellet fished with either a big PVA stick of the same mix above, or, a big PVA bag, as i like to catch the odd carp or two as well. If bream are a problem, up the hookbait pellet size. The beastie below couldn't resist the above combination.
